Where is UofL expected to be ranked in the preseason?

 

Not sure exactly where. I would think somewhere in the 5-8 range.

To get Louisville to that spot, I'd have to be able to say they're better than teams like South Carolina, Clemson, Stanford, LSU... and I'm not quite there yet.

 

I think it's easy to put a lot on that Sugar Bowl win and talk about where it puts the Cardinals. The simple fact is that the Sugar Bowl might have been the only time all year they actually played a complete game from kickoff to final whistle. That loss to UConn looms large in my mind... even bigger than getting beaten down by Syracuse.

 

I'm going to need to see a much more consistent defense than I did last year to talk about Louisville in the top 8 and I think that a lot of the voters will probably think the same.

Right. I sort of tacked that on at the end but didn't really address it.

 

I think a lot of the early top 25s that came out have people still high on Louisville following that beatdown of Florida but for the reasons outlined above, I think you'll see a lot of those voters cool off on Louisville once they sit down and start to look at teams in early August.

When I saw this I couldn't help but think that Alabama usually has around 90,000 for a spring game and in comparison as to what is important to who the state of Alabama probably hasn't realized that a basketball season has came and gone since last years football season.

Agreed. I still think this season will be a rough one but the future is very bright.

 

Agreed, I hope that all UK fans will realize that. Has been since the 70's and cheating Fran Curci since UK was a SEC football power and since Paul "Bear" Bryant that UK has had it's only national title, the Cats beat Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl (I think it was the bowl) and was considered the champions in that season.

Things are not going to be great in a single season (if ever) but it does look more promising.

Honestly, I thought the nunber was higher, but any number would basically be made up. There was no turnstile, and the party deck makes it look like there are fewer there anyway. I mean, the people in line for beer at any given time probably could have been a 15% boost. By the way, I thought they really failed to anticipate the turnout, because concessions were short staffed and the wait in lines was out of control.

 

My personal guess was 38k, if you could have corralled everyone in a seat. The lower bowl seats 42k after the upper deck and loge seating additions.

Well, I just wanted to buy my son a pretzel, so it was a failure in my book. A smarter way to accomplish that would have been to limit the beer sales to only two or three locations. A bottleneck creates the same slowdown without holding up other commerce.

I'll go out on a limb and say that will never happen in football...ever.

 

I'll vote basketball and hope that someday UK can consistently be in the top third of their division in the SEC. Likely a pipe dream I know.

 

I do think UL has a great chance to play for a NCAA football title in the next 10 years. Provided the NCAA is still around in 10 years....

I'll agree with the concessions being a failure. The $1 beer was being sold on the party deck, and there were three different places up there to buy it. I didn't see $1 anywhere on the regular concourse. A buddy of mine stood in line for 45 minutes for some bread sticks.

I think there was more than 33k also, but like you said, no real way to tell.
