WOW, not sure where this comes from but we have strong disagreements. Both Anthony and Tim invest their lives and millions of dollars they have raised to help others and they support charity benefits regularly. Tim funds Children's hospital work and Make a Wish activities. Anthony has done more for our community than anyone I know. Tim and Anthony are very humble men. How many NFL players take in the truly downtrodden and host them for a weekend to brighten their spirits like Tim does? I loved the story about the family that Tim hosted during the playoff win weekend over the Steelers the season before last. Remember that game? Here's what 99% of people don't remember: When all the reporters were clamoring for interviews about the "big" TD pass to win in OT, Tim was busy introducing his teenage guest (whose family he hosted for that weekend), a girl who had endured over 60 surgeries in her young life, to his head coach and other players. That is GREATNESS - not throwing a TD pass to beat the Steelers. Lots of QB's do that. Tim selected 15 events for this off-season, and one of them is right in our back yard. Benefits will assist 500,000 people worldwide including over 10,000 people each month with hunger needs in the Tri-State that are fed through 125 missions across all faiths including many Catholic charities (many food pantries around the city plus great missions like Rose Garden on the Hill, City Gospel Mission, Cincinnati Dream Center, Mary Rose Soup Kitchen, Brighton Center, Care Mission, Be Concerned, Hope Ministries, Diocesan Children's Home, City on the Hill, Community Action Center, Northern Kentucky Cold Shelter, Sunrise Children's Services, Appalachia Missions - Myra, Harlan and Jackson, KY, Fairhaven, City Heights, LifeLine Ministries of Northern Kentucky, etc. etc. etc.. Tim and Anthony share the same values based in their personal relationships with Jesus Christ, that some people do not understand. I know that both men want all charities across all faiths to succeed. They are there to help people, quite simply. I'm very grateful for the lives of Tim Tebow and Anthony Munoz. May there be more men like them!

I guess Tebow must be like Andrew Carnegie. The difference, of course, is that Carnegie knew the way he treated his employees was wrong, and spent his life doing philanthropic things to balance the ledger. Tebow, on the other hand, feels no sense of conflict since he's sure all Catholics are tasting the hellfire, and that's why he goes to places like the Phillipines to "convert" Catholics to Christianity.

 

I'll tip my hat to him for his charity work, but condemn him for his religious bigotry.

I love these types of discussions. Where in the world do you get the idea that Tim is sure all Catholics are tasting the hellfire? That's almost funny were it not so sad and untrue. Since you singled out Catholics, I'm sure Tim would agree with God's word (refer Eph 2:8-9) that salvation in Christ is a free gift from God and cannot be earned by works such as obedience to a set of rules or traditions. He would also agree that only God knows who has a personal and saved relationship through Jesus. No church is the answer. No man is the answer. No religion is the answer. People cannot be saved by being a Catholic, a Baptist or whatever church they affiliate with. Jesus is the only way to salvation and the only answer and all truth has been revealed in God's Word. Tim and Anthony would tell you the exact same thing because truth (Jesus - refer John 14:6) is truth and they both base their lives on that truth. People from any religion who think they can earn their way to heaven have a different version of truth than what God has clearly shown in His word. Tim, Anthony and I share a view different from yours and that's real life. I gladly take my stand with them and the one and only Savior of people in the Phillipines or United States - Jesus Christ, the Lord.

To the bolded question, his "missionary" work tells me that he believes folks raised in the Catholic tradition are doomed. Why else would he feel the need to "convert" people who are already overwhelmingly Christians?

Has nothing to do with that and you know it. Just like Guru said in the other thread -- and I'm paraphrasing -- a lot of us just turn off when folks start slinging Bible phrases. For me, the Bible has been twisted so many ways over the years to suit some particular agenda that it just doesn't work as a debate tool.

^ No, I don't know it. I do know you reserve some of your harshest words for those who hold to the tenets of Scripture.

As to the purpose of the evening, it will benefit those from many different faiths, including over 10,000 hungry people in Cincy. The mission hosting the event, MASTER Provisions, has worked in Islamic, Catholic, Orthodox, Jewish, Christian and Hindu nations. They are about showing the love of Jesus in tangible ways to economically distressed people regardless of their faith. Love has no boundaries. Tim, Anthony and MASTER Provisions align in faith and principle of loving others, walking humbly before God and taking the Bible as the true authority of life with one way to heaven, through Jesus Christ, a free gift that cannot be earned. Those are God's words, not ours. It will be a great evening of inspiration for those wanting to hear from two great Christian men that "walk the talk". I look forward to attending.

Would like to, but at $100+ for floor and 40+ for "bowl", they have priced themselves out of the market. I love Tebow and everything he stands for, but wish he would stand up and declare this simply outrageous.

 

Maybe your wish came true and Tim declared outrageousness because half the seats in the house are now $25.
