Rutgers coach Mike Rice has been fired

So you don't think LeBron wouldn't have put a knot on his onion?

I do.

Because it's real easy to sit on the outside looking in and say that, but this guy was these players coach. Athletes are taught from an early age to take any and all criticisms from coaches. They come back at him and they're putting their basketball careers as well as their education on the line. He has the power to dismiss these guys at the drop of a dime. So, obviously, none of us no for sure, but I'd be willing to bet a large sum of money that no player would have retaliated.

Criticism and physical abuse are two different things.

Whipping him might not be realistic, considering they could have been worried that charges would be filed against them, even in retaliation. But why not stage some type of group boycott or group walkout? And the video was grainy, but it appeared that he didn't single out one player but rather went after seemingly everyone. Not sure how he keeps his job at this point, especially considering he isn't winning huge anyway, and they are about to move to the Big 10.

That's what amazes me. It wasn't just one it was multiple players and they all seemed to just take it. That's why I ask is it the norm or do some players have the battered wife syndrome where they feel like they are supposed to take that kind of abuse. Makes no sense to me.

No way he survives through today. Transfers have already occurred and it is one of the top stories on the national news this morning.

They are still impressionable kids who have no clue how others coaches act.

True. I'd hope my son would share what is going on with me so I could show him otherwise.

Are players just accustomed to this kind of abuse? How come they never came together and whipped him?

Curious about that myself.

How in the heck did he recruit anyone? Did he ban them from taking to any current players?

Reports say he will be fired any minute.

Unreal. It's crazy to think a player hasn't snapped on him yet. Interesting to think about what would happen to a player if in fact somebody did retaliate.

I just heard the same on the T. Brando Show....CBS Sports Network.

The man shouldn't be in public, let alone coaching! I sincerely hope that some player kicks the jerks butt when fired, they are now probably afraid of even worse treatment or being kicked off the team.

Everyone saw this coming. I don't think he will ever find another job after that poor display.
