What's up with the name Clarence? What did I miss?

 

When the ex US Marshall was forging clay's signature that's how he signed it. I couldn't imagine Clay Signing his name that way but perhaps he does. Maybe that is how the Marshall screws up or maybe it's something else. I just feel like it's going to play a part in the future of the show somehow.
