For instance, Highlands has been playing football for most of the century - Pendleton County has been playing for a decade. It takes a while to build a program, and for every John Hardin that was good from the get-go, there are a dozen schools like Pendleton County trying to make their way. I can't speak for other sports, but I do know Pendleton County has been solid at basketball for many years. Maybe not region champions, but not winless either.
March 28, 201313 yr Does anyone else look at this and think what a joke it is for teams like Lloyd and St. Henry to play in something called the "All A Classic" when they have nearly 10 times the enrollment of multiple schools? Some do, Some don't, by just joining last month you missed a great thread on that topic.

And they have been decent. This should be a wake up call to seriously improve in the other sports. Now I am not saying state champs or something like that, but at least be competitive.

Now I am not saying state champs or something like that, but at least be competitive. Football is a numbers game, no matter the size school you have. You can be the biggest school in the state, if you only have 35 kids playing football you probably aren't going to be too successful, even if you have decent talent among those 35 kids. Baseball at the hs level is all about pitching. You can have middling talent at most every position, have 2 or 3 dominate pitchers and have a chance to get to the state. Basketball is different and between the 3 sports gives a school probably the best opportunity to be realitively successful without huge numbers or relying on one specific position.

April 1, 201313 yr P.C. has a problem getting kids to play football because many of the kids there actually have to spend their summer working on the family farm. They dont have time for family because they are busy helping their family. It doesnt help that the KHSAA thought it would be a good idea to put them in the same district as HHS and CCHS when they have 30to kids on the team. They are not playing a district schedule this season and getting a few more wins vs smaller schools may help more kids become interested and want to come out for football.
