Why is this big news now? All Presidents and Politicians do it. You act as if Obama is the first! This is the Hypocrisy that irks me about politics. You always want to point out things one side is doing that are wrong. Which is OK, but when the shoe is on the other side you want to turn a blind eye to it. The right and the left are shifting blame now, when it's their blame to carry. Why don't you post about the responsibility the right shifts to POTUS?

 

Lame, weak excuse for this president who refuses to lead and only wants to place blame on others for his failure to lead. Yes, others may have done something similar, but not an excuse for the current leader. Would you have him act like Nixon and then say it is OK because another President had already did the same thing?

 

While I do agree with everything TR and Truman did, I admire them. The reason being they were willing to lead.

Because as the elected leader of our Country, he should lead by example.

 

That is want is wrong with our current leaders be they D or R, no one leads by example! It's wants good for me or my party and no one is willing to do what good for our Country, our Citizens, our Children!

I think he called GWB unpatriotic for raising debt ceiling.

I thought he would unite the country and not divide it.

I have a few comments (not that I expect anyone to care)....but!

 

1) The SS is probably making a point that they have to furlough people because of the sequestration and lack of funding thus we have to cut back activities.

2) Obama is OK then, I will just blame the SS for cutting the tours.

 

I remember a lesson learned early in my career...its not good practice to blame people in the organization under you and wins one no respect. Personally, I find the Vidale Sassoon approach much more successful..."if you don't look good, I don't look good"."

That is still what I am confused about. How is eliminating part of their job going to save them from being furloughed? What money is that saving? I guess it is cutting from personnel that give the tours, but that has nothing to do with the Secret Service. I am not an expert in furloughs, but I just assumed that you institute one when money is low, not your daily tasks.

 

Now had they come out and said, "we are going to furlough the SS detail that works the White House tours; thus, tours are cancelled" that would have made sense. They are saying, "to avoiding furloughing SS detail that work the White House tours, we are going to eliminate the tours." Ok, but they are still spending the same amount of money to pay the SS aren't they, they are just reassigned to another task? I am sure the answer is right in front of me I am just not getting it and I am over thinking this.

For the record this is a cut I am not in favor of. Preserving, educating, and highlighting our national heritage should always be a priority.

I am not sure where you got that idea. Of course there is no logic there. That is why I suggested the only logical thread is that people are getting furloughed, because of that activities have to be reduced, and the security during White House tours is one of those activities.
