2013 Big East Championship

Featured Replies

I am sad to see this conference end. Most of these teams have been a part of the Big East for over 30 years. I really think in about 5-6 years we will see TV dollars shrink and these Huge Football Conference stuggle for funding.

I am looking forwad to this tourney. I watched both games last night. I will be watching every game. Only thing better would being there in the Garden.

I agree completely; it's definitely sad to see the conference being done, especially in basketball considering the richness that it has in tradition. I never missed a Big East basketball tournament ever since starting to watch basketball which has been quite a while back. I could eventually see the funding issues you brought up taking place too.

8 NCAA Tournament teams squaring off today. So sad to know this is the end of the best college basketball league ever. Thanks ESPN...

Unfortunately only 8 teams can play in the quarterfinals even if UConn was eligible... :D

I still don't understand what ESPN's angle in all of this was. They have basically owned the Big East for its entire lifetime. Many have said that they purposefully killed it. Why would they do that, if it is true?

The Big East voted to turn down a billion dollar ESPN deal that would have stabilized the league with the intention of going to the open market with eyes on becoming the flagship of the NBC Sports Network. Once that happened ESPN started working behind the scenes with the ACC to pick off Syracuse and Pitt in what has eventually led to the league falling apart piece by piece...

Wise man once told me that when you don't know the answer it's likely either money or power... In this case, the worldwide leader utilized both, as GT has explained...

Bill Clinton at the Big East Tournament. A lady sitting between him & Pitino just got pregnant by osmosis.

Dear Louisville,

Your uniforms look like technicolor vomit. But on the bright side it distracts from Russ Smiths crazy unpredictable game.

Warm Regards,

Dayton hosting a UK/UC play-in game would be epic.

Lunardi has both teams as an 11-seed right now, with UK playing Virginia in a play-in game.

Couple of fans just got booted from MSG. Not sure what they were doing, but the official took a security guy to where they were seated & gave them the heave ho.

Not to purposely thread jack, but shouldn't the play-in games be between 14/15/16 seeds?

Lunardi shows two play-ins involving 16 seeds, one play-in involving 12-seeds & one involving 11-seeds.
