PRP by 12. Played a brutal schedule in Louisville. A little more battle tested than Holmes.

Marcus Hill needs get more aggressive, quickly, he will be needed.

Tough to figure this one out. I'm in the strange situation of only having seen them three times this year and two of them were games in which they got absolutely blown out of the water by Trinity. The other was a really nice win over Male in the LIT.

 

Don't know enough about Holmes to know whether the things that gave the Panthers fits against Trinity will or won't be an issue.

While I agree that the regular season in Louisville is a gauntlet, you can't say 'more battle tested' than Holmes after these past few days... They just beat 3 teams that, if playing in about 4 or 5 other regions, would be at Rupp as well...

PRP has more size and length than I expected.

 

Their scores are all across the board though, so it'll be interesting to see if they try to keep the score down like they have in some of their regional games (Bullitt East in particular).

 

It looks like there might be a trend for them trying to keep scoring down against some of the better teams in their region. Some recent games in particular suggest they might have tried to grind the game out lately (i.e., 3/2 vs. Butler in the regional final, 2/28 vs. Bullitt East, 2/26 vs. Doss, 2/22 vs. Fairdale, 2/15 vs. Moore).

 

Should be interesting to see how this one plays out because I'm guessing Booher and Holmes wouldn't mind trying to run with them. Nonetheless, I'm just gonna throw out the prediction that PRP will go with what's been working recently and try to keep the scoring in this one down.

Flat-out could not score through huge stretches of the game. Trinity plays really tough defense both in the system and on-ball. Trinity's bigger guys also did a good job of preventing them from getting to the rim.

Holmes has been underestimated by the state all season. If you look at there record and the teams they played you can't ignore them. They also have depth. They showed that last night when two of there best players fouled out early. They know how to step up. These teams probably haven't seen the kind of speed holmes has or ball handling they have all year.

Welcome B but PRP has seen plenty of teams with the speed and athleticism of Holmes, as well as ball handlers. Trinity has all those and more. Holmes will need to play well and shoot well. Rebounding has been their achillies heal all year. If they rebound it will be really close. Bolden will be a force for them to stop, also. The kid can play.

PRP has seen lots of speed, most notably South Shore HS from Brooklyn, whose PG is going to UConn. PRP won by 12. Taywan Taylor is lock down defender and a freak athlete who will likely draw Bolden. PRP's Antonio McDaniels is a jet quick PG who has been offered by NKU. 6'7 Lamontray Harris is the leading scorer and has several D-1 offers. 6'6 Robert Sawyer is a banger and strong rebounder. PRP has problems against a team like Trinity that is physically strong, athletic, and ferocious defensively. PRP has had off shooting nights as well. If they are not shooting well and Holmes makes some perimeter shots, Holmes will be in a good position. Game will be low scoring as PRP is an outstanding defensive team and has made their run through the 6th Region with crushing defense (42 points by Doss, 33 by Bullitt East, 44 by Butler). Holmes really gets up for games like this. They beat New Rochelle, NY by 15 and NR was just on Sportscenter last night for beating Mount Vernon in the 2A sectional championship.

 

I think what helps Holmes in this game is they have played 3 teams in this past week that all do something different at both ends.

 

Looking forward to seeing Bolden v Taylor after all I've heard. Holmes will need not only him, but the role players to step up as well if the Dogs are going to advance. I will say this...regardless of schedule, Holmes is 31-2 for a reason.
