February 28, 201313 yr I'm sorry there is no reason what so ever in the American public school system to glorify these terrorists. Call them what they are, they committed mass murder on innocent American civilians. Any teacher or adminstrator who shows any outward sympathy or support for an enemy of this country should have their postion at that school looked at very hard. Who said anyone showed sympathy or compassion? I don't know the motivation of the teacher, but as 75center said, from a different prespective, they wouldn't be called terrorists.

In what shape or form could a lesson telling American students to call terrorists freedom fighters be productive. Its part of this new PC world. Call them what they are terrorists murderers and enemies of the country we reside. They don't deserve one second of our respect. All I need to know is they are brain washed lunatics. I think it is fine for the school to teach that in their own country they are considered Freedom Fighters but requiring the students to refer to them as such (and be told that they could no longer use the terms suicide bomber or terrorist) is grounds for dismissal in my opinion.

While it can be upsetting to hear them referred to as freedom fighters I could understand teaching how they might be viewed in their own culture. I think it is very important to learn other cultures, both for peaceful and adversarial reasons. But wouldn't that be something like studying the topography and culture of Somalia and focusing on the pirates? The Taliban are a group of religious zealots, not a place.

It appears that the teacher didn't believe in any of what they were preaching, just taking a jab at administration, or society in general. Not the best way to get a point across, because it allows for a lot of emotion to do the interpeting of the message. That is never a good thing.

My guess is he's an idiot or is in on the "protest." If this is in Texas' state curriculum I'll ship a sixer of anyone's favorite beer to them if they can find it and post it here.
