Maybe if Walton had the team that Tramme started with the outcome for this game and the season would have been different. There is more to coaching than just the x's and o's all the players left in the program have and play with heart.

Amen to that.

That's just something that people who don't know X's and O's but still want to be coaches say.

And to think, Steiner is the reigning 8th region coach of the year and no one is clamoring for his job but he was out coached all game by the guy the WV folks want to run out of town. By the way, if you voted for Steiner last year- be ashamed, very ashamed.

Tell us how you really feel about Coach Steiner!

The WV gameplan last night was the basic same gameplan used in the first 2 WV/SK meetings which SK won by 30. Run a spread /Backdoor offense and play triangle/2 or box/1 defense. Big adjustment by coach Trame this time putting right players(5 guards) on the floor to actually run offense.

First 2 games with same gameplan .....early in game WV has multiple turnovers, misses shots and SK players besides Sampson & Barnes made early shots. SK gets early leads forces WV to play man to man...game over.

Last night...same gameplan...WV takes care of ball, makes shots early...SK role players can't score early...WV builds lead and because of pressure of tourney time, lets just say certain body parts get tight.

It was the right gameplan & finally combined with right personnel it almost worked. In 3rd qrt. With score 30-19 WV deviated from game plan with some bad possessions ...combined with missed FT's & SK making shots allowed SK to pull out a very entertaining game.

Congrats to WV kids for playing hearts out with nothing to lose & Congrats to SK for doing what it takes at tourney time....SURVIVE & ADVANCE!

To get on a message board, hide behind a user name and call someone inept is just wrong! If you don't approve of Coach Steiner or your son isn't getting to play enough, fine be mad! Don't call him inept, Steiner works hard at what he does, his players play hard for him and they win. Maybe not enough to suit you or like i said maybe your son couldn't handle playing for him. He isn't inept, he is a very good high school coach!

I know this is false.

Got it from parents of players from SK- more than one, i might add.

Wrong. Players play hard for each other, not the coach.

For the senior parents, guarantees two more games of watching Steiner be confused.

Congrats to the WV staff for preparing a great game plan.

They didn't practice all week for Walton, focusing on Grant. Same as they did at regionals last year vs Gallatin. Players bailed out the coaching staff once again.

Trust me, not one thought about WV all week in practice and it showed tonight. As I said, SK lucky the players pulled this one out in the end because the coach is inept.

When's the next open house at Cov Cath? LOL

Simply laughable. I credit the coaching staff for being patient when the shots weren't falling and making the correct adjustments/decision to take out certain player(s) because they were playing poorly on defense. Some nights you are going to shoot poorly and it is the perfect storm of a deliberate team executing and you not making shots. One thing you can control is your defense. If you are not getting the job done, then you have to come out. Got to bring it on defense, if you don't then someone else can come in and do the job.

But hey, a parent got their feelings hurt and are displaying their selfishness in all of this. Kids play for each other but they bust their butt for their coach and the team. That is leadership from the staff.

Don't be silly in thinking that SK didn't prepare for WV. That is just a ludicrous thought.

Instead of being happy that the season is continuing and SK has a legit shot at the region title a parent wants to be selfish and express his feelings as a keyboard quarterback just because they got their feelings hurt.

Then again, if your kid scores 50 and blocks 10 shots and you lose, it is clearly OK in NKYBandits book.

Keep grinding that axe...SMDH!

While I think Coach Steiner has done an excellent job from an outsider looking at the program, NKyBandit is allowed to express his opinions on this board.............

You know better than that.

I agree with this but it seems to me his opinion comes at the expense of how someone else feels. It is a two way street that must not run through Independence.

Me too, but nice try.

Steiner has done more than a good job with the emotional ups and downs this team has dealt with this year.

If you think that what happens to a team is more than just coaching your kidding yourself. There are factors that go beyond the moves a coach makes in practice and on the court. I personally think Coach Tramme knows a great deal about basketball but there were other factors that did not let this team live up to our expectations from their freshman year to this year.

Anyone have the box score?
