I thought it was a great game. Both teams played very physical and aggressive basketball. The refs had their hands full and did a pretty good job of not letting the game out of control. Both teams had their chances and Boone made the most of theirs.

Tell me where the play started. Was Maines out on the perimeter and drove to the basket? Sounds like the foul was from behind, correct? When did she pick up the dribble?

She was along the baseline. She got in front of her defender and as she took her firsst step toward the basket it looked as if she was pushed from behind which made her stumble and take an extra step and then laid the ball in.

 

She picked up her dribble as she went toward the basket from the baseline to lay it in.

 

 

There were only 3 feasible calls. 1. foul before the shot, Conner ball out of bounds (they weren't in the bbonus yet I don't think)

2. Foul during the act of shooting, basket counts and 1 foul shot.

3. Traveling, which shouldn't of been the call becausee the bump is what caused the extra step as MMaines when bumped was off balance when she put the shot up.

Thought officials did a great job myself! Just one very odd call. Maybe a few homering calls towards the end.

She made the move on the baseline. Freppon made the call from almost halfcourt. Baseline ref never blew whistle just saying they saw two different things. My opinion baseline official had the better view.

she picked it up when she started her drive to the basket which is why i said it looked like a travel caused by the bump because as she took her first step after picking the ball up she looked like she tripped and tried to get her balance which caused the extra step and then tossed the ball up and in. I kknow you've seen it a thousand times, a bump causes the player to be off balance as they go in for aa layup and lays the ball in off balance, that is exacttely what happened.

I ask because it matters. Officials have a primary area. If the outside official has the baseline official on his same side then it MIGHT be the baseline's call. It might not. Depends on where the dribble started from. If the baseline official is on the opposite side of the outside official then it's in the primary of the outside official and it's his call especially on a foul from behind.

Clyde great observation, as you say this I think I do recall her making a forward motion and then pulled back, timing however was off because the whistle did not blow until after she shot the second time and the ball went in. It all was split second but what is the official ruling on timing of a call, she made an attempt got fouled but the whistle did not blow until after the second attempt. Look forward to your input.

She was driving, stopped, pumped faked but DID NOT release the ball, and on a second attempt with her RELEASING ball her shot goes in, whistle blows, two foul shots were given but the basket did not count. At that time Boone had 5 team fouls so no one and one. The more I think about this was a blown call, many fouls are missed and play goes on and even though this was split second the ref should not blow a whistle and then determine the outcome based on a previous play, spilt second or not! IMO opinion the 2 points should have counted and the missed call prior should have fell into the refs do the best they can category!
