NBA-Kobe Bryant-both polarizing figures. Both are either loved or hated. Both will likely always be seen as the second best at their position regardless of their accomplishments.

 

MLB-Alex Rodriguez is my first guess. Maybe even Barry Bonds.

I was also thinking Kobe for the NBA but couldn't really think of someone in baseball.

MLB it would have to be Josh Hamilton especially last year where he was criticized for not trying a lot of the time.

 

NBA I'd say Carmello, another great player but kind of a diva with no championships

Didn't read through all of the post so that I could give my own thoughts without a lot of outside influence.

 

Randy Moss is physically one of the most gifted receivers of all time.

Way above average speed, jumping ability and excellent hands.

He did play with some less than exceptional QB's during his career.

 

To be the GOAT you need to be the GOAT each snap, series and game to the best of your ability. This is where Randy Moss comes up short in my opinion. Randy admittedly took off plays, lost interest during games and seemed to phone it in during the end of several seasons.

 

Randy may be the Greatest Talent to ever play WR in the NFL, but IMO he is not the GOAT.

I think Moss was a better WR than Rice. I don't think any organization would take 15 years of Randy Moss over having Jerry Rice for 15 years though.
