Kids and gun control, is this too much?

While I get your point, I think it would take more than one random picture to show you the inside of someone's mind. Being against school rules to have the picture is another story for me, one I support the school in. Just so long as he'd get the same reaction from the school if he had a picture of a muscle car or something for the computer wallpaper.

Agreed about the school rule being enforced equally.

I can understand the mind of a teacher/counselor who sees a wallpaper like his and possibly overreacting. My sister-in-law who is married to a super strong second amendment supporter and they have multiple guns in their home. She would be freaked out by a kid's wallpaper with a gun on it due to the current mindset that their school might be next so I can understand the overreaction. I also think the school did good by allowing the suspension to be lifted after discussion took place.

Wasnt the Sandy Hook killer (Lanza) Home schooled?

I don't remember, but maybe his mom should have reported the screensaver on his laptop.

No kids allowed to pretend to save the world. Kill all imagination in kids.

If it saves just one imaginary life...

Reportedly he was home schooled, at least for the last few years of his high school education, maybe longer. Apparently when he was in public school he didn't fare too well socially. He was an outcast and that eventually led his mom to home school him. I don't have a link but there may be one, this is what I remember seeing on the news shortly after the shootings.

Should we suspend him?

Just another hypocrite, he is an adult and should know better.

Yesterday, Boyd County schools were dismissed for snow. I let my 14y.o. take his Mossberg 28ga over/under and our English Pointer and German Shorthair Pointer along with his youth pastor and another friend who is in his youth group at church to a local game preserve. I paid for the quail that they released. They harvested 23 out of the 25 quail, brought them home, cooked them, ate them, then he went downstairs and cleaned his shotgun before placing it back in the gunsafe. That is my definition of kids and gun control.

That's heart-warming and all, but the facts are this: For the majority of American kids, they did not learn about guns that way. They learned about them in an irresponsible manner, if at all. And the consequences of their learning is what this discussion should be about.

Something like the NRA Youth Programs could be a good start.

We live in a generation of irresponsible parents. End of discussion.

As for this thread, it outlines the simply moronic acts of people that have zero positive effect on the the youth of this country to become responsible citizens, who may just become gun owners.
