B-Ball-fan Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 I don't go to games around the region with the idea that I'm going to rate the PA systems when I get there, however some gyms stick out to me as being downright awful and some pretty good. Years ago Dixie's was painful to listen to. I've been there a couple times this year, and it appears that they must've changed theirs because it sounds much improved. With being such a big place, Holmes' sound system sounds like it's coming out of a small transistor radio and I can barely hear what that announcer is saying. At the Dixie game the other night he announced a few times that the theme for the Highlands/Holmes game will be 'White Out' asking all the fans to wear white as folks filming for the 'Impact' movie will be on location filming. I knew what he was saying because I had already read info here and there about it, but I kept thinking that the fans who didn't already know couldn't possibly understand what this guy was going on about. I love watching games at Holmes, but if they could just get a decent PA system then the experience would be that much better. Any thoughts about the good and the bad of PA systems around the 9th?

Holmes will have a new PA system by the districts. Just got the bids and selected. They are waiting for the installation.

Just Jim Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Coopers is nice. The fella running the show, singing the Anthem does a very good job.

B-Ball-fan Posted February 1, 2013 Author Posted February 1, 2013 The sound system in the Fieldhouse at Holmes will be upgraded very soon! Wow... ask and I shall receive. Didn't realize that I was bringing this topic up so close to problem solved. Cool...
Bengal Maniac Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 What the hell did I type? That should be.....NewCath's is in dire NEED of replacement!! :ohbrother: I see a donation of 25-30K from LB13 to assist with NCC's PA. I am certain they will be appreciative!
Walter Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Holmes has done some major upgrades to the fieldhouse over the past few years... Locker room upgrade, floor upgrade, new mats on baseline, new scorers table, painted walls, and now PA system.

I am not sure but it has to be better. This should finish what they need to do in the gym. Next is the turf for the football field which they have started to find grants, donors, and the sort to fund it. Early estimates are at the 750K range. They aren't close to raising that. It won't get cheaper with time, however.

allsport71 Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I can speak pretty cofident about the PA system at Holmes, being i i am the PA guy for the boys games, we have fought all year will problems, we have had the system go down during announcements, during intro's and we have had problems getting music to play, i am always thriled when the band is there, the first night, we could not get the Anthem going, most of the speakers are the original ones from the 70"s, but yes by district time, we should have everything in place, all i can do is apoligize for some glitches this year, hang in there with us.
Clyde Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 For a school that does not have a pep band I've always enjoyed Dixie's pre-game music the most. Nice mix. However, I'm 100% behind the pep bands. Adds a lot to the atmosphere (or in Conner's case it sadly MAKES the atmosphere).

The locker room that they re did Booher's first year is really nice. Wood lockers with somewhere to sit. Much different than the red metal ones and benches they used to have. The pa system upgrade will make that a first class place to watch a game. (Not that it isn't already) Allsport, I've got an instrumental playlist on my laptop that the team has said they really like. Would you guys be interested in using it pregame? I can burn it to a cd to make it easy to go through.
