Your logic and reasoning are not correct. If you want to reduce gun violence, eliminate the war on drugs. And yes, I would support capital punishment for the possession of an unregistered automatic weapon.

Pretty sure possession of an unregistered fully automatic weapon is currently punishable by either 10-20 years in prison.

Existing laws did prevent this guy, he tried to buy a gun a week or so earlier and was denied. He then killed his mom and stole her weapons.

So what is your answer if a person's home is robbed, firearms are stolen. A bushmaster with a meager 7 round clip is stolen and used in a murder. Then what? The owner at fault? Do you not see that regardless of the limits you put on law abiding citizens that there will ALWAYS be firearms of that sort in the hands of criminals? Always. Not sometimes, always.

The consequences are already huge, just not well enforced. The same can be said for drugs. No doubt, simple economics.

I'm not a hoax conspirator. It has been reported over and over that one Bushmaster and 2 to 4 pistols were all that were recovered. Then there is video of the rifle being removed from the trunk of his car...I question how it was used in the school and was still in the trunk.

FWIW I support stronger background checks. To include real time data on Domestic Violence orders and Mental Incapacitation orders, currently these do not show up until convicted of a crime. I think there should be access for Joe Q Public to complete a NICS background check if I want to sell a gun to someone personally, currently these is no mechanism for this.

Really? You think that will stop some one from stealing your guns. I've heard of 500lb gun safes stolen, but by your reasoning the gun owners would be liable if those guns were used.

I have to ask again, why does it matter? A criminal committed an illegal act, and the answer provided is to take the tool used from law abiding citizens. It simply doesn't make sense.

That story appears to be nothing but speculation based on old articles.

You may be right, but the State Police spokesman the morning after the shooting said all guns were found in close proximity to the shooter and said nothing about any guns being found in the car. A least 1 long gun was found, hard to tell from over head video if it was an rifle or shotgun.

 

The morning after the shooting they weren't going to release every single detail. They have since released a statement regarding what guns were found where. Why is this even a question now?

Those weapons can easily be justified. You seem to be wavering on your belief system. You deem that one crime, which affect far less people and cost far less lives in this country every year should be made a capital crime, while you feel that another which statistically cost far more lives every year should be made legal. You are not making sense, and you seem ignorant to how many crimes are comitted a year with an unregistered automatic weapon. The second amendment has nothing to do with self defense, it has to do with the right to keep and bearing arms being a Constitutionally protected right. If someone wants to change that protection, they should try to make another amendment to the Constitution. Otherwise, it is protected. Thankfully, it seems that the majority of our legislators are going to feel the same way.
