12 points in only 17 mins...yea he played pretty well. He has gotten better throughout the season. Coach Booher noticed him playing well at the JV level so threw him in against Scott and he has been a regular in the rotation since. Had a 3 to end the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

Dixie's Soph class is loaded. I feel before its all said and done that both Bolin and Isbel will be two of the better players on the team. Both are very gifted physically. And let's keep in mind that one of our best Sophs elected to sit out this year, but wishes he didn't. Drew Moore will be back next season and may very well be the best Soph on the team. The future is bright for the Red Colonels.

Chevy told me before the season had Drew Moore played he would've been the best player on the team...not scorer (Hatton), but best player. He would indeed create a lot of mismatch problems.

Have to disagree on Moore though. Definitely athletic, but I have to think his mind is on football as he is really good. And, I didn't think he was a major factor on the freshman team that made the final last year. Not that he couldn't help, but didn't think he was one of 2 or 3 of the best Sophs.

Really? Wow. Guess I just didn't see him perform up to standard in the 4 or 5 games I saw last year. I'm sure Chevy knows. Good for the kid.

You are 100% correct that he was not a factor last year, but that was 100% on the coach not playing him. Plain and simple. Hard to contribute from the bench.

Not really sure. Was a head scratcher for sure. Parents whom I'm friends with from CovCath did not understand it either.

Holmes, in my opinion, was far from their best tonight, but still had plenty to handle Dixie. Bright spot for Dixie is Schreck, I like that young man and have every time I've seen them. I know many of his sophomore classmates get more love, but I really like his future.

 

Hatton's body language wasn't great tonight. I'm a huge fan, and perhaps he is a victim of his own success, but I expected a lot more from him tonight.

 

Holmes is the best team in the 9th (and the 10th), and I'm not sure there is even an argument. They have plenty of options, led by a bonafide D1 point in Bolden.

 

Woah there buddy. I personally feel Montgomery Co. Is better. No one would be able to handle Prewitt. What was Holmes's toughest opponent in the state this year?

The player that has improved leaps and bounds since the beginning of the year for Holmes has been Quinton Chames. He has now become a factor on the offensive end and is able to out the ball on floor and drive it from about 10-15 feet out. He just seems to have a better feel on the defensive end in challenging shots and getting rebounds.

 

Dixie has a lot of nice looking sophomores.

 

Hatton didn't have a real good night shooting the ball and Holmes ran some soft doubles at him when he had the ball on the wing extended to take away his penetration. He did defer quite a bit and really didn't force many shots, but I don't think he really took a high volume amount of shots either.

 

I didn't see the first foul on Chames when the kid from Dixie hit the floor off the ball, but was told it was a flop, but on the second one, he went down like he had been shot. It was the ensuing possession. Both calls made by Burkart. I dont quite know what the rotation is for a 3 man crew, but Burkart was in the same spot under the basket on three consecutive trips and three different stoppages. Funny thing on the the third trip he called the kid who had been fouled twice for a hold away from the ball.

 

Overall, I thought it was a fairly called game with the exception of the one call that I saw and mentioned above.

Rotations occur on fouls. Calling official comes table side. If he's already outside table-side he stays. No rotation. If the foul happens in the backcourt, no rotation.
