Not any more than she would trust me or any of my friends....

My dog doesn't like strangers and although small is very intimidating with his growling, snarling and barking. He is always on high alert and will growl and bark even at people walking on the other side of the street. I feel quite safe with my 35 lb protector.

Just seems strange for gun enthusiasts to be scared of unleashed dogs. With open carry and CCDW you'd think they'd feel safe at all times.

Rockmom seems to be the few against the many. I don't have an issue with people's right to own a gun. I don't see ANY reason why any citizen other than a law enforcement office has ANY need to carry deadly force into the public. Maybe we should be discussing the insecurities and traumas of those who feel they need to be armed. And for background, I did work in law enforcement, and I have had guns pulled on me.

I am used to being on the "wrong" side on BGP. But in my "real" life I know more people who believe as I do on this issue than not. And I also feel that you raise a great point with exploring the reasons why people feel they need to be armed.

Yeah, really. My daughter got attacked by a dog when she was little. Luckily I was there to stop it. Let me tell you, it wasn't a bit funny. Neither of my kids have ever been attacked by a gun or anyone with a gun....

That was the point of my thread I started a day or so ago. I'm searching for an answer other than 'it's my constitutional right'.

I don't trust people who would shoot at me and my dog when we annoyed them.

I was attacked by a dog as a child also. Multiple times. Was even told that one of the dogs was racist. Much like guns irresponsible owners will cause problems. The same way you can't tell if a dog owner is irresponsible until it is too late is the same for gun owners.

Then why laugh about not trusting dog owners? I've been attacked by at least 10 to 12 dogs in my lifetime, I've had a gun pointed at me twice in my lifetime (one was a cop, mistaken identity and my fault for getting out of the car), so I've had much more trouble with dog owners than with gun owners. I find law abiding gun owners to be much more trustworthy and capable of controlling their firearms than dog owners and their dogs.

So long as there was someone there with a gun, yes. But you don't want us to have that option.

Because I have never heard that statement before in my life and I thought it was funny. I can't imagine being more afraid of a dog than a gun. To me that's funny.
