January 25, 201313 yr Well, I don't know what I'm going to do now. Kentucky now permits open-carry of firearms in any city-owned facility-park, library, zoo, city hall...... Not a fan of this at all.

January 25, 201313 yr Author I guess it's just me. I just don't feel comfortable thinking about taking my granddaugter to the park and worrying about people with guns. Or story time at the library...or the zoo. I certainly am not comfortable going into city hall, where a lot of people are going beause they're ticked off about something, and being around a bunch of those angry folks with guns. Legal possesion or not...just nothing about this gives me even one iota of a feeling of comfort.

January 25, 201313 yr Which any person can open carry now virtually anything in Kentucky with the exception of schools and most public facilities. It is a bit taboo to see though. Not saying I agree or disagree with the law, but if I were a teller at a municipality that is often dealing with disgruntled citizens, someone walking in with an exposed gun would make me take notice and feel a bit uncomfortable. People are kidding themselves if they say otherwise. But again, a lot of it may go back to the taboo nature of visibly carrying a firearm.
January 25, 201313 yr Court days in Mt. Sterling will address these phobias. LOL, I probably won't be there, but is there alcohol involved too? That would be special.
January 25, 201313 yr Kentucky has been an open carry state for some time. What was added? Open carry in any taxpayer funded area? RM, plenty of states allow open carry in their city hall and even their state legislators. Its not that big of a deal.

I assume it's the fact that ANY city-owned facility is now open cary. You think it's not a big deal. I think it's a HUGE deal. Not. A. Fan. At. All

What makes me uncomfortable is that I know NOTHING about that stranger with a gun. Granted, I know nothing about the unarmed strangers either, but I'm willing to look them in the eye and strike up a conversation. An armed one? Get me the heck outta there! And if it were my job to deal with disgruntled people, and I now had to worry about them coming in with firearms....I'm finding another job!
January 25, 201313 yr LOL, I probably won't be there, but is there alcohol involved too? That would be special. I think Mt. Sterling is dry. But if you do not have pistol strapped to you hip, rifle thrown over your shoulder or are standing behind a table full of guns you are out of place there. It may qualify as the largest open air 'gun show' in the world. Kentucky has had open carry for a long time. Did something change recently?

There are no strangers...just friends (with guns) that you have not met yet...

All Since Kentucky has been an open carry state, have you ever been or felt threatened by the fact someone was open carrying that you saw?
