Holmes 77 Scott 52

a coach with a good defensive plan, can keep an average offensive team in any game.

As long as the players show enough heart and toughness, this is true 99.9% of the time.

I will agree with you about that they should not be pressing as much, but Howard is still forcing his shots against double & triple teams too much. He needs to recognize the double & triple teams and pass it out quickly to his perimeter players. The other players stand around a lot for various reasons and it is not always their fault.

Howard kicked it back out to Whitehead in the first half for 2 three-pointers and he hit Quigley twice on a couple of nice cuts to the basket. That's 4 times just off the top head right there. He really shouldn't be giving it up too much more than that because he gets to the free throw liine so well.

Scott seems to be in a muck.....

Saw Holmes at the 5/3rd, and was very impressed. Behind Scott Co, they were the most impressive team I have saw far......

Let's be honest. No one is surprised at the margin of this game.

:thumb: If McCord and Sharp don't come to play then it will be hard for Scott to beat anyone. They both stood around and did close to nothing last night. Scott played a pretty decent first half until the last minute. The game was tied 29-29 and Holmes scored the last 7 points of the half.

I found this interesting little nugget on the BGP scoreboard page:

As of 1/24/06 Scott leads the 10th region with 1176 pts scored. (Pendleton Co. is 2nd with 1161).

On the other hand, Scott is 2nd to last in in total points allowed with 1049. (Augusta is last with 1074)

Your honor, the defense rests. :fire:

agreed. McCord had a good 1st few minutes. That was it. Sharp hit a shot or two. Quiqley might of had the best game last night of any eagle and Whitehead had played a good game. Howard was slowed down a lil but still had a decent night. The eagles will be ready to play thrusday, though i heard a couple of the starting guards will not be playin. I will not say the names until i am verified but at the im pretty sure they will be playing with out 2 of the usuals.

good stat. but they might have played the most games out of anybody in the tenth so that stat would be not as good. not sure though. Check out the averages and then repost. Good Stat though.

Thats my point, if your team plays hard its easier to get them to follow a defensive plan.

Even a simple motion offense is much harder to perfect and score alot, than teach could man to man help defense.

Defense is a much easier tool to be taught than offense.

Then why are there so many poor defensive teams??

They pressed in both games. In fact, they pressed almost the entire second half against Brossart.

They did press virtually the entire 2nd half against Brossart, and the Mustangs (especially their big men) were salivating!! Their press is weak and was a big difference in both the JV and Varsity games. One of Brossart's JV had his career high as the beneficiary of layups off their press; and BB scored a ton of easy layups off the press in the Varsity contest. I think you need big, athletic guards to pull off that trapping, pressing style against good HS teams; otherwise it's pass--pass--layup!! :D

In today's world no teenager wants to play defense.....they want to hit a three in yo face!

There's a nice stereotype...

The very talented ones like to and do play defense along with offense.

They have got blown out the last two games and their schedule doesn't get any easier.

Scott gave the worst display of offense I have ever witnessed.

When Scott figures out that 1 inside person is not going to carry them, then maybe the offense can be opened up some more and allow some players to create more off the dribble, otherwise their season will be over quickly during the districts.

Nice to still see the loyal support! A true fan is one which shows support during the good and patience during the down times. I guess nobody looks back at some of the coaches in the past such as Ken Sheilds for one example and some of the close to .500 records which he entered the Regional Tourney with and won. Another example would be Brossart in 2000, hit a rough patch in the road on the way to RUPP!

But I guess your are right two losses to very good teams in at this point of the season will make a quick district exit? I will take my chances with Coach Carr and his group! While wins and losses may look nice for the record books, what matters is what happens at district time. Yes, there are a number of rough games coming up on the Eagles schedule, but don't be suprised if an upset or two may happen on the way to the districts. Also, by the way I think the records at district tourney time starts at 0-0. What happens in Jan. doesn't always have the same results in Feb.
