Barry Is Back In

My college peers tell me Republicans threatened to take away their college loan money. Mitt Romney didn't get their vote (mine either)

To say he didn't garner votes because of his promises to keep certain entitlements in place or expand them is just plain dumb. Whether people think they've earned them or they're lazy and want them, that was a part of his platform and helped him get elected....especially among college kids worried of getting their money taken. (that was never ours to begin with)

Everyone votes with at least a modicum of "what's in it for me". When looking at the candidates during the election cycle, for instance, I paid particular attention to the issue of health care. This issue affects me, but even more importantly, people I love....My mom, several uncles and aunts.... my daughter.

It's obvious that the divide of the country is reflected in our little microcosm. I for one resent the heck out of the fact that since the AFFORDABLE care act has passed my share of the premium that I pay has gone up and so has my deducible and co-pay, yet any woman can walk into a doctor's office and get BCP at no cost. That's just one example. There are many more. And now that Obama is a lame duck with no other election to worry about I am scared to death of what he's going to try to push down our collective throats.

The only issue I have with people voting their pocket book or what's in it for them is if they expect it to infringe on my, or anyones, liberty or property for the sake of themselves. If it doesn't, more power to ya.

And trinity, student debt is over a trillion dollars. That much debt which shows no sign of getting paid back, is not good for the the health of our economy.

Do you really feel your insurance premiums would have stayed the same or gone down without this legislation? Insurance has been rising rapidly for YEARS!

But I thought that Obamacare was supposed to make healthcare AFFORDABLE? Are we now justifying what every expert in the field as well as the CBO are saying is going to happen to premiums by saying they were already high before Obamacare? Maybe that should be AFFORDABLE for those that I can scare into voting for me.

Well, millions will have health insurance that couldn't before. You know have the choice (if the KY ever gets it set up) to choose a more affordable option. Preventative care is now free for all, not just those who can afford insurance.

I paid off my first year of law school at around 7% interest. If I were to take out loans from the private sector, or from the banks, I guarantee it would be well over what I paid through the department of education.

Who's paying for it?? Oh that would be those of us who already had coverage and are now paying more for it. You can polish a turd all you want but it's still a turd and I have yet to see anything to even remotely convince me that Obamacare is anything other then a turd. As far as a state run exchange, why in God's name would anyone voluntarily get into one of those considering the less then stellar job KY has done managing Medicaid.

How much money are we talking about? If you were able to get a loan from a bank I doubt the interest rate would have been much over the 7%. Also, people going to law school aren't necessarily the problem (though some are), it's the ones taking out loans for 6 figures to get an art degree. The fact is if the government is going to give out this money they have to do a better job of screening what the money is being used for.

Hit "Like" if your first thought was that Barry Bonds is back in the Hall of Fame mix

When I first saw the thread title, I thought it was about the Storage Wars guy.
