Folks, hindsight is 20-20. It's easy to criticise after the fact. My opinion is that Fairview was the host and did nothing wrong. They have the right to host the tournament in the manner they choose. There is nothing wrong with having a sellout and turning away fans at the gate. This happens all the time at sporting events everywhere. The only problem I see is administration could have handled it better at the time especially for those who had advanced tickets. My guess is those who had unused tickets could surely get refunds from the Fairview office by returning the tickets. This was unfortunate, but a good problem for our area to have. (I think the whole thing is the fault of the Rose Hill fans. )

I agree with ACE, and for what it's worth, I thought that the fine folks at Fairview did an excellent job hosting this tournament. :thumb:

 

The atmosphere was cozy. The energy and intensity in the gym was outstanding. What the hospitality room lacked in visual ambience, was more than made up for with genuine hospitality and good food.

 

In the future, schools with smaller gyms should learn from this and may want to consider dividing the Boys and Girls finals with enough time between them to encourage a change of crowd to allow new fans into the gym.

 

IMO, every school deserves the right/privilege of hosting the All A at their school. That's part of the charm of smaller schools, and what the All A is all about.

Wireman it seems that you too were a victim of poor planning. Someone who seems to be so in touch with basketball in this area would have surely known what type of crowd to expect. I had no desire to see the Rose Hill/Menifee girls contest but chose to arrive early so I would be sure to have both a seat and a parking place. If you would use that knot between your shoulders for more than a place to hang your hat you too could have had a seat. As for wasting a Saturday night...........again your own fault. More to do on Saturday than high school basketball. You already had the family with you, why not enjoy a pleasant dinner together at one the many fine restaurants in the area. Oh, my bad.......probably would have had to wait outside there too!

 

Since you didnt see the game atleast we dont have to read all your posts about how poor the officiating was. Heaven knows you would have to blame someone else. Wait a second.......not seeing the game didnt stop you from hacking on the officials of the Boyd/Morgan game did it? You were standing outside Fairviews gym but still have an opinion on calls made in West Liberty on the same night. Amazing!

Sounds as if you are making a judgement in defense of the Refs at Boyd/Morgan game, but once again a judgement. You just admitted you werent there either, some you have no idea either :thumb: So, not sure what you are trying to prove by the statement. :confused:

First of all, I have no connection to Wireman, but said your statement, I decided to look at his past posts.

 

I seen that he had praised Rose Hill Basketball, Rowan county Basketball and Elliot County Basketball, so he seems to be doing a lot of praising to 16th Region teams, for a person that complains a lot, as you guys would say. :confused:

 

His 2 Complaints:

 

1.Fairview on Saturday Night - Personally that would probably upset me too, to drive a fair distance with a ticket and not get to see game. Now, was that Fairview's fault? I dont know.

2. Refs in 16th Region - I personally feel that we still have some good, quality refs in the Region, but as a whole it has went downhill. I have noticed a lot of 16th Region refs that solely used to do Elementary games, and most of them still do. I feel there has been some injustice towards 2 or 3 teams this year, and would have to agree with Wireman on some of that. Now, on the flip side, I have reffed years ago, it is a very, very tough job. My understanding there also are not many people that want to ref anymore to choose from.

Nice thoughts redblood, but, in this thread I find "No" compliments from Wireman and I do fined complaints. As far as other threads are concerned...please break everything Wireman has said into two columns, Column A - Complaints and Column B - Compliments...my guess is that Column A will be by far the longest of the two columns.

Redblood please point out to me where I supported the officials in the Boyd/Morgan game or any other game for that matter. You should not judge me on my username alone.

This is exactly the way I wanted the game to be - A close game to make all of the skeptics to understand that we as good as anyone around, yes we need some attitudes adjustments, but we are as good of a team as anyone. Why don't the All A school's get together and decide to play the ALL A Regional tournament at MSU'S Weatherby Gymnasium? Why not use facilities that you have access to in the region and also obtain the "neutral" court atmosphere in a larger seating capacity.

 

I think that is a great idea. I play city league in Weatherby and its a nice facility. They could probably even play in Johnson Arena if they tried.
