I spoke to someone on the inside at Fairview today and they said that if they had it to do over they would have had two sessions that day. I believe the turnout suprised them.

 

FWIW, there is no way that that gym seats 1100 people. Rose Hill's gym has 10 rows of bleachers that contain 1053 bleacher seats. Fairview's gym has 9 rows. Plus there is a section where the teams enter the lockrooms that is non existent. I would say closer to 900 to 950.

 

I don't think there's anyway that it seats 1100 people. I think two sessions would have been a really good idea. Most of the fans from the first game stayed for the 2-for-1 special that night!

Folks, hindsight is 20-20. It's easy to criticise after the fact. My opinion is that Fairview was the host and did nothing wrong. They have the right to host the tournament in the manner they choose. There is nothing wrong with having a sellout and turning away fans at the gate. This happens all the time at sporting events everywhere. The only problem I see is administration could have handled it better at the time especially for those who had advanced tickets. My guess is those who had unused tickets could surely get refunds from the Fairview office by returning the tickets. This was unfortunate, but a good problem for our area to have. (I think the whole thing is the fault of the Rose Hill fans. )

Wireman it seems that you too were a victim of poor planning. Someone who seems to be so in touch with basketball in this area would have surely known what type of crowd to expect. I had no desire to see the Rose Hill/Menifee girls contest but chose to arrive early so I would be sure to have both a seat and a parking place. If you would use that knot between your shoulders for more than a place to hang your hat you too could have had a seat. As for wasting a Saturday night...........again your own fault. More to do on Saturday than high school basketball. You already had the family with you, why not enjoy a pleasant dinner together at one the many fine restaurants in the area. Oh, my bad.......probably would have had to wait outside there too!

 

Since you didnt see the game atleast we dont have to read all your posts about how poor the officiating was. Heaven knows you would have to blame someone else. Wait a second.......not seeing the game didnt stop you from hacking on the officials of the Boyd/Morgan game did it? You were standing outside Fairviews gym but still have an opinion on calls made in West Liberty on the same night. Amazing!

I'll point out a few things about that post - 1) it specifically says in the games that I have watched this season and 2) it does not say anything about the officiating in the Morgan/Boyd game. So, you 5-post rookie, where did I hack the officials of that game? Its not my job to anticipate how many fans will be at a high school game - that job was in the hands of All A organizers and the hosting school.

 

FYI - its none of your business, but I took my 2-year old daughter roller skating for the first time that night and that was far more important to me than the game would ever be. And you know what, I enjoyed looking like a moron with roller skates on while I played with my little girl because seeing her smile like that is worth looking like a moron.

 

I also have a newsflash for you, your post is of the same quality as many of the 16th region officials. Your nickname on here suits you. I don't worry about posting positives or negatives, I post what I see. Perhaps I'm just seeing more negatives than positives.

The point stripedshirt was making is that Wireman does nothing to promote any player or team, he just simply complains.

 

The only time I have complained about anything was the way that Fairview handled the All A Classic. I haven't really complained about the officials - just making an observation that they quality of mountain officials seems to have declined over the last few years. I don't feel like they're out to get one school or anything, I just think they make some interesting calls against all schools.

Well, her brother is on the Elliott County team, so she will travel and stuff just to see him. If it would've been my high school or pretty much any other game, I would've been travelling solo or with some of the guys.

Nice thoughts redblood, but, in this thread I find "No" compliments from Wireman and I do fined complaints. As far as other threads are concerned...please break everything Wireman has said into two columns, Column A - Complaints and Column B - Compliments...my guess is that Column A will be by far the longest of the two columns.

I believe you have posted a total of 5 times. 3 of those times have been replies to me, 3 concerning refs. So I will take the majority and consider that support of the refs. Which is fine, there are still some quality refs in the 16th, but there are also some poor ones. I could probably piece together all your comments and even figure out exactly why you support them :sssh:
