January 20, 201313 yr I'm not sure what the definition of a "mass" home invasion would be, but in my humble opinion, if there is more than one intruder coming in my home that would be "mass" enough to want more ammo available to me.
January 20, 201313 yr I am sorry, but almost all those arguments are about it being inconvenient to have to switch clips. I don't by the home invader argument. I make the trade to smaller clips if the debate is protection against a gang home invasion versus making it more difficult for mass murderers. Recent history shows more likelihood of a mass murder than a mass home invasion of an innocent person. On gun control, I am in favor of finding the right balance in access to guns. I am in favor of as much freedom in gun ownership as common sense public safety will allow. With those principals, I think a clip limit of 15 or less makes sense and is not a denial of my 2nd Amendment rights. Compromise on taxes - ok. Compromise on self defense, home defense, family defense? That is nuts. Its not that every house should have a 30 capacity AR on the ready. But if the possibility exist the bad guys will not be so aggressive. In a more rural setting it is the likelihood of armed homeowners that keeps the bad guys at bay. And this works for those who do not own guns. And I guess home invaders, bears and out of control rioters get better odds against people. But the practicle matter is that 100s of thousands to millions of people already own 20+ capacity magazines. And those that own them usually own more than 1 - many more. So there are easily millions of 20, 30, 40 round magazines already out there. Do these get grandfathered? Do they not - like in NY - and make simple possession a crime. These will never go away. There will be a black market. It will be like drug dealing. That is simply outrageous.
April 29, 201313 yr In addition, the problem I and other people have is finding some reason why anyone needs a clip that holds 15+ rounds. Educate me some more - why does anyone need a gun that holds 15+ rounds? People who live in rural areas that are being over run by ferral pigs need high capacity magazines. Those pigs tend to travel in packs and as fast as they are, even the best shooter will miss. Between multiple targets, fast moving targets, and targets that often require multiple hits to kill, a 15 round magazine would not do it.
June 13, 201313 yr I try to have 5,000 rounds available (combination of .357 and .38 special). That is about a year's supply. It's not unusual for Mrs C and I to shoot a 100 or so rounds on a weekend.
July 27, 201313 yr I'm venturing to this forum for the 1st time. The one and only time I held and shot a gun was at Camp Webb back in the late '70's. :lol2:

July 28, 201313 yr Probably a good time to venture back out then. Maybe TAC can invite me out to his house so I can get some much needed practice. I'm a fast learner, both years at Camp Webb I got my Gun Safety patch. :thumb:

Always a good time shooting a few rounds, than sitting by the fire and talking hoops. I'll have to have a few extra to talk girls softball, but we could sure talk men's. Invitiation is officially extended. your brother is invited as well.
July 28, 201313 yr Doc Webb passed away a few years ago. One fantastic fella. Didn't know that. :( Going to Camp Webb was a really fun experience for me when I was a 5th and 6th grader back in the day. A week in the outdoors and away from the "city life" was great, looked forward to it for those two summers. All three of my girls got to experience it as well and enjoyed it thoroughly. Sounds like a good time, will have to get back with you on the invite. :thumb:
