So a guy who is out averaging someone in field goal%,rebounds, and points. In my opinion your argument on who the best is player is mute, however your argument that Perry is the best team is a good one.

Gilbert score 15 of his 46 behind the arc, so 31 of those came inside the lane. He hit 5 three's, 13 field goals, and 5 free throws.

I do want to clarify one thing, Bailey is a really good player and deserves a lot of the credit he gets. I would actually put him either 3rd or 4th behind Gilbert, Hicks, and maybe Rich from Lee County. Bailey is a very nice player and one that I hope does well.

I have watched Smith play, and i don't see how anyone can cpmpare him to Cody Gilbert, or to the top ten players in the region at that. He is good, but not top in the region.

Its only Owsley fans that see him as the number one in the region, whereas most others see Cody Gilbert as the best. Smith isn't as good as either Dixon or Berryman from Estill.

They each lead in specific categories and a strong argument could be made for either one as the best player in the region. Cody is the more prolific scorer and rebounder of the three, but his team has performed the worst. He obviously is physically stronger than either Bailey or Hicks who are both only juniors and will be two of the top returning players for 2006-2007. Hicks has very nice all around numbers except for rebounds which can be expected due to his position. Bailey does not take as many shots, but he doesn’t have to as his team is superior to the other two. Bailey has the leading Three Point Percentage and they are all three nearly equal in Free Throw Percentage. Gilbert and Bailey being the more similar type players could be interchanged with their teams and their statistics would probably flip-flop. At this point it is like comparing apples to oranges to peaches. The fact is each has tremendous ability or neither of them would be mentioned in this discussion.

Gilbert is the BEST player in the 14th. He can be Kobe Bryant and Jason Kidd like when he needs to.

When did that happen? Oh guess what he isnt shooting all the shoots, he does probably shoot about 30% of them though. Oh yeah i forgot to mention he leads his team in assists, steals, rebounds, ppg and blocks. What else does a man need to do to earn respect.

 

And I dont think that anyone in the 14th could switch places with Gilbert and perform as well as he has. When someone else in this region faces constant double teams and does almost everthing for their team let me know.

I agree Mountainwarrior, nobody else could do what Gilbert does if they were in his shoes. Everyone else would get their head down and give up. Atleast he fights for his team, and he doesn't give up on them, I have respect for him just for that!

If Gilbert has had so many double teams and triple teams on him, some body else is bound to be open. Pass it to the open man... MAN!!! I think Hicks is one of the best players int his region.

No one player in the 14th will hold him to six and especially now when he has other outlets (Stamper,Crowe,Bush). KF-here's a little note that i've learned over time. There is no use arguing or evening using facts with Hazard fans (ex. bailey is the best, hicks is the best, no one can beat pcc come tourny time, hazard will win the all a, etc). If hicks (imo's pick) or bailey (commodores pick) were interchanged with Gilbert, they would not have anything near the year that he's had. Gilbert is taller, better leaper and stronger than either. Double teams would kill them & they would have to pass out of them. Does gilbert shoot many contested shots?? yes but he shoots a higher percentage of contested shots than his teammates do open. I've seen 2 games & he's tried to get people involved & the team falls way behind. He puts the team on his pack & gets them back in the game but doesnt have the legs to finish.

I get the analogy better than i do your thought that hicks is the BEST player in the region. Top 3 or 5 probably. Next year maybe 1 or 2 but this is NOT NEXT YEAR!!!!
