I think I know why. Dawn was so dependent on Brenda and was still in the game just because Brenda talked her down when she lost her retainer in the water. I don't recall a previous blindside where someone had gone out of their way to be so kind to another player only to be taken out like that.

And Brenda is probably now thinking of all the times she should have just let Dawn fall, and not help her back up. If not for Brenda, Dawn would have given up and sobbed herself out of the show.

Watched Brenda arriving at the Ponderosa. I have been a Survivor fan from day one. That is the first time I have ever watched the Ponderosa. Brenda seemed more calm than what I expected and she didn't blast on Dawn. She even said, hey, that's the game.

 

However, some of the other jury members did not have good things to say about Dawn. After watching that, I will be shocked if Dawn wins if she is in the final three. The jury members see her as deceitful and not genuine.

 

I always wondered how much talk there was among the jury. Based on that clip, it seems to me like they talk about the other players a decent amount. They probably have restrictions about talking to each other on how they will vote at the end.

Agree. I told the wife that Dawn just went to the bottom of pile. Wife was surprised and said you have to do what you have to do. But she picked a bad time to 'find her game'. Brenda gave her that immunity and thought she was doing the right thing picking Dawn for the reward. Obviously Brenda should have won the immunity (she would have) and ensured this didn't happen. She was too loyal to Dawn.

 

Dawn will make it to the finals now since everyone knows she was the Brutus in that situation. All the remaining are better candidates than her now.

^ I am not buying that Brenda dropped out of that immunity challenge and let Dawn win. When I saw Dawn holding her grip with her hands on top of the bar and Brenda holding the bar with palms up, I thought Dawn would win.

The question is this - is Survivor ever not about the game? Last night, Dawn said no with her vote. Her vote said this is always a game and there is no such thing as a real relationship. What does everyone else think? Would you ever put relationship over your perceived opportunity for the money?

 

It's a great question and something I think about all the time. But its so hard to tell when you aren't on the island with that person for 35+ days. I think I'd wind up being tight with one person that I'd ride or die with...but would screw over anyone else in my alliance if I needed too. And that's basically what Dawn did. She's been riding with Cochran this hole way.

 

I couldn't stand Dawn's theatrics before and this made it even worse. I know it's a game but that was cold. By the time Brenda fills in the group at the Ponderosa over what went down she won't get a single vote at the finals.

 

I agree. After this, she won't get one vote. She's easily the best person to bring with you to the final three if you're any of the rest of the players.

Added to this does anyone doubt that if she's sitting with Cochran in the final 3 that he won't throw her straight under the bus and tell everyone that she was never really loyal to Brenda?

 

I think this game magnifies traits that people have that they probably bury in "the real world". I have doubts that Dawn would ever betray someone like she did for real but the fact that she was able to do it shows me that there is at least a bit of deceitfulness in Dawn that she would probably deny is there.

Brenda had no way of knowing that Jeff would give her that dilemma to give away the reward to the other players. Brenda also missed out on the food and time with her dad and sister. First and foremost, Brenda picked Dawn to go with her on the reward.

But Brenda could have said no, and went with dawn on the BBQ and family. Instead she gave it away, screwing Dawn in the process, and Dawn screwed brenda in the end, can't blame her one bit.

If that was their only interaction for 30+ days, very understandable. But Brenda was there for Dawn through her series of emotional breakdowns. Most importantly, Dawn would not even still be in the game if Brenda had not gone diving and found Dawn's teeth in the water. That incident by itself should have earned Brenda loyalty till the end. I think everyone saw Dawn's emotional roller coaster and Brenda's support as something beyond the game and that is why there is the big negative reaction to Dawn voting the way she did. I hope Brenda reveals all that at final Tribal to expose Dawn fully before the vote.

Perhaps. But I think Brenda learned and came on the scene as a different player. This is evidenced in her reunion with her father and telling him she was being humble, just like he told her to be.

You remember correctly. Which I remembered even more when she kept telling her dad about him telling her to be humble. I could see her winning fan favorite just because people feel bad for her.
