Yes. Shame schools dont do it. Great recognition for your players throughout the state. KHSAA should make it mandatory.

 

That is a very good statement!! When some of the schools reporting have less than .500 records and they can report, why are some of the top teams not reporting? Take the 9th region for example. I notice one of the top teams in the region not reporting stats....why?? I think your statement Dawgs states it very well. "Great recognition for your players thoroughout the state". Also, that team would be one of the top 5-7 teams in defensive average, not to mention possible other player recognition. I assume that it would not take that long to input the information??:idunno:

If college coaches are only going by these stats they aren't doing their homework! There are plenty of kids out there not on these list that are better than someone who shoots 45 times to get there 25 a game! If you go by numbers you'll be out of a job quick!

I agree Whatuthink. However I do think coaches should be required to post stats!

I think what everyone is trying to say, is that it is more for "state recognition". What that means is at the end of the year when acknowledgement is given the stats play a part in the final decisoins. If you are a team that is not seen throughout the state, one of the ways players can be acknowleged is via the state stats.

 

As for college coaches counting on the stats for recruiting..... well I have yet to see a player offered a scholarship just by what is on paper. They very seldom go by numbers, but to receive anytype of state wide awards I would think most look at stats to help with the 1st, 2nd..... end of the year individual and team awards.

I Coached many years and Several different Teams and I always reported Stats. Coaches you are not letting your players receive the recognition the deserve.

I do think all schools should post stats its good for the kids to get some recognition but just stating I don't think college coaches use it to recruit players!

How vaild, then, are the records players have put up the past, for example, King Kelly Coleman and everyone who holds a season or career record? Is the lack of participation/reporting something of recent vintage or has it been around for a while?

Interesting the number of teams that DON'T submit stats. Most schools would do it to get their kids some ink you would think. No excuse not to do it. Every school can find someone willing to do it if they care enough to look.

So...you really can't go by this list in reality, because SO MANY schools don't report any stats! I am in agreement that the KHSAA should make it mandatory for coaches or administrators to post a roster AND stats. Who knows how many college coaches out there might be looking at these and a lot of kids are missing out on that!? :idunno:

I believe there are several different reasons stats aren't being reported to the KHSAA. 1) Some schools do not fully stat their games for some reason. 2) Laziness. 3) The coach does not believe his player will make any list so why bother. Any reason for not reporting your stats is nonsense.

You can't find a volunteer or some students to do the job? Now that's indeed sad!

Coaches should enter stats but you have to take in consideration that most coaches teach a full load and have other responsibilities. At small schools some of them have many jobs to do.

Or, in some cases, other jobs not related to the school, which makes it even more difficult to get info from them.

I'm in the minority, I guess.

 

Teams not posting stats on the KHSAA site fails to stir anything in me.

 

Not all coaches have time. Some coaches have to do a lot of things on and off the court. Entering stats is way down the list. Not all schools have a strong volunteer support system.

 

I don't get the passion that is stirred about this topic.
