Congratulations to Dixie.

Hatton pretty much does what ever he wants. Can post up or take it off the dribble and didn't force anything.

Good district win for Dixie.

He's a tough matchup. If you put a traditional guard on him he takes them in the post and kills them. If you put a bigger kid on him he usually abuses them on the perimeter and off the dribble.

This just in - the kid can play.

Dixie's overall defense was much better than I expected. They mixed up a zone and man to man. Did a good job of not letting St.Henry get to the spots they wanted.

I was surprised that Hatton didn't attempt a 3 pter all night. Schreck played a nice game also.

Good to see Niehaus with 10. He has been battling injuries all year.

If Dixie can get him healthy, they become a very tough team to beat with Hatton pretty much dominating on offense. I'm a really big fan of this Dixie team. Group of blue collar kids with a star in Hatton.

How often has Hatton had a game with no 3s?

I'd be willing to bet less than 10 times in his varsity career as a starter.

First time I've seen Hatton play after all these years and I was definitely impressed with his skill. He plays probably 3-4 years older than he is in regards to his intelligence. Love how easily he can draw fouls. Definitely tough in the post as well.

St. Henry needed to penetrate more in my opinion, they settled for shooting over the zone too much.

Congrats to Dixie. The defensive pressure that Dixie applied was outstanding to watch as they were quick with their switches and limited the St. Henry looks.

On a slightly unrelated note, was anyone there for the end of the JV game? I am confused by the St. Henry foul on a Dixie shot. The shot went in but they didn't count it. However they gave the shooter 2 foul shots. I can understand if they called in on the ground but it that would have meant a 1 and 1 as St. Henry only had 7 or 8 fouls at the time.

Also I thought the timeout by the Dixie JV coaches came around the 15 second mark (was whistled by the refs) but the clock ran down to 11.3 I believe. Is that a product of only having two refs for the game and not having one watch the clock?

No clue on the FTs. I can't think of a situation where it would be 2 on a non-shooting foul with less than 10 fouls.

It's not a function of 2 vs 3 officials. You should know a TO is a legit possibility and be ready to check the clock while you're blowing the whistle.
