Trinity 59 Newport Central Catholic 42

Trinity on a whole different level, SPEED SPEED, & more SPEED. Even though the Breds had a height advantage Trinity's ability to get to the boards on the offensive glass and the Breds inability to take care of the ball spell defeat, Newcath had to have close to 15 plus turnovers. As Clyde mentioned Hicks for Trinity is the "real deal", Breds did all they could to stop him and couldn't. McDonald and Schulte for the Breds did all they could, but in the end it was not to be. Schulte did have another alley oop dunk, video to follow.

It was just not meant to be be tonight for the Breds, they played hard, but not smart at times. Unfortunately it came against one of the best in the state. Congrats to the Shamrocks on a well played game.

By the way, for those in attendence, what was the over/under on tattoos on Trinity players?

Lou Trinity (10-3) 18-13-09-19 59

NewCath (12-1) 10-12-13-07 42

McDonald 11, Schulte 10, Seibert 7, Bueter 7, Pangallo 3, Dupont 2, Devoto 2

Tough loss for the Breds but games like this will help them in the long run. T is top 5 in the state for a reason and this game will help prepare NCC for what other teams may try to do to expose their weaknesses.

Even tougher for Breds fans who had to park down at K-Mart and walk up the "hill".

One bright spot from the game Bueter to Seibert and the "flush" by Schulte.

Imagine T tonite with James Quick.

It happens about once a game. Nice combo!

YIKES!!!!!

Clyde, what did you think of McDonald tonight? What is your assessment now?

Sounds like a very nice wn for the Shamrocks against one of the best teams from the 9th. Can't wait for the Louisville Invitational Tournament in a couple of weeks. There will be some great games.

What does the JV score have to do with anything. NCC lost to a top 3 team. It was a 3 point game in the 4th quarter. Why dont you count the FROSH score (40).

I think most people picked up on the point being made.

T emphasizes defense.

Needs to get physically stronger. Got pushed out of the post tonight.

As I said previously I like him best when he catches the ball away from the post. He showed two nice moves that way tonight.

He still struggles in the post when he catches it on the right block and the defender takes his favorite move which is to lead with the left shoulder. He tried once coming back towards the lane but he used his right hand to shoot instead of his left and it was blocked. If he had an up-and-under move he would be hard to handle.

He did show a nice move when he caught the ball on the left block. 2-step jump hook. Didn't go in but it was a good move.

Kid seals really well. Passes well from the high post. Does a nice job of keeping the ball high when he receives a pass. Solid FT shooter.

Kid is going to be hard to handle in the 9th especially if he continues to work on his low post game. I saw him working on post moves in pre-game but he didn't show many of them. It's there if he keeps working at it. Kid works hard.

Conditioning would help his overall game as well.

Most of the same goes for Schulte as well.

I like Pangallo at PG. I think he needs to shoot a bit more from the outside to help Beuter and the inside game. He has a nice stroke.

I don't think the speed even was the biggest factor. T is HUGE, like grown men huge. All 5 starters were thick, strong young men! That was the difference tonight. Grant kept telling me how tough they were, I still don't think the boys were prepared for that kind of toughness.

Combo of both but I agree that the pure physical strength issue was big.

Isn't the KHSAA on a mission to remove strength from basketball?
