Physical toughness May be a weakness of the Breds IMO. They have some highly skilled basketball players but are not vety strong. This will hurt them if they get out of the Region

 

They have the best starting 5 basketball players in the 9th IMO and a very good coach, just not sure that will be good enough to make any noise outside of the Region.

Clyde, what did you think of McDonald tonight? What is your assessment now?

 

Regardless of Clyde's assessment, tonight many feel McDonald proved himself to be one of the BEST bigmen in N KY and by some of the comments made by the Trinity people one of the top post players in the state. Drew was a warrior tonight on both ends of the floor, I think the blood on his jersey proved that! Most need to remember the young man is only a SOPH and with 2 more years ahead of him there will be great things to come!! Points and rebounds are one thing, but to watch the way this young man battled tonight was a pleasure and those that choose to attempt to find faults in the young mans game..... well there are not many if any.

 

As for Trinity, it is very easy to see why they are one of the top teams in the state and this was a great test for the YOUNG Breds. There are great things ahead for this team and the future is extremely bright for not only this year but for a few years to come.

Agree on him playing really hard. Battled. Took a shot to the midsection that had him out for for about 30 seconds. As I said he's going to be hard to handle over the next two seasons.

 

You call it "finding faults" as if it's personal. Simply not true. He is one of the best big men in NKY. No one said otherwise. I just pointed out things he needs to work on and I'm sure he will. As I said I saw him working on post moves before the game so he's cognizant of what it takes to get better which is refreshing.

 

My points about what he needs to work on are correct. It's no different than saying a guard doesn't shoot the 3-ball well or a PG doesn't have enough handle yet . It's like saying Hatton needs to continue to get quicker to defend on the perimeter. It's like saying Ruthsatz forces shots occasionally.

 

Every kid has things to work on and being a nice hard-working kid (as Drew is) doesn't change that.

The "big" with the most potential on Friday night is Ray Spalding from T.

Pretty cool scene for the National Anthem. A young NCC lady was singing the anthem and about halfway through she stopped. Not sure what happened. Slight delay of about 5 seconds and then the entire crowd picked up where she left off and took it on home.

I think that Clyde's assessment is through the eyes of a college scout (not that he is but he has seen a ton of basketball up here). To even have someone that concerned as to dissect your game, that shows that you have the potential to go higher than many of the kids in NKY. That is a compliment, and I don't see how it can be taken as a personal grudge since every comment has to do with skills that need to be improved. I'm sure any camp that Drew goes to will say something similar. He does need to get stronger, but he's still growing and is still only a Sophomore. If he can get with Mike Kiernan, or Wiefring, or one of those guys and take the training to heart...look out. He plays hard, and once his body matures it will be scary. If his skills continue to come along, he will be one remembered on the Hill for a long time like Rick Batche, DeVoto, Kiernan, and Geisler among other big men.

I will also add that this was the first time that NewCath has played a team better than them. This was a good lesson. I am sure that they will take away many things from this, but it will only help them in the long run as they go through the All A and postseason.

Hicks ended up with 25. Solid mid-major player.

It was my second-time seeing Weyer. Kid has really nice potential. Has a better looking outside shot that I thought.

 

He looks like he likes to play on the wing. He needs better ball skills but with work you can see where in two years he can be a pain the rear to defend.

Different players. Hatton is a much better shooter than Hicks IMO.
