OK. I guess I need to give it another try. I am surprised by the overwhelming numbers in the poll. I expected it to be more users than non users just because anyone on BGP is likely media savvy and has an information addiction. It just seemed like a nuisance when I got on it the last time. Some of the same reasons why I refuse to mess with a facebook page. But before I jump in, here is another question - do you need a smart phone to truly get value out of twitter? Is it worthwhile if you just connect through a computer?

If you want some real entertainment today, follow @WillMcAvoyACN. It's the Twitter account of the fictional news anchor from HBO's "The Newsroom." He's spent the bulk of the afternoon trying to explain to stupid people what the debt ceiling does.

I like it better on my phone. I very very rarely use it on my computer.

Definitely. Absolutely never use it on my computer. To me Twitter was made for an iPhone.

I have a question someone might know the answer to. Is there a way to unsubscribe from a certain hashtags? For example, I follow a lot of fantasy guys but I do NOT want to see any tweets with #NFL, #FantsyFootball, etc. I would still like to continue following them though.

Don't think so.

VOR, I follow a few friends but mainly I follow reporters, political folks and organizations, a few TV shows to remind me when they're on, @breakingnews to keep me updated quickly, financial guys like @motleyfool, recruiting guys.

Take what you like to read and follow people in those categories. Follow some friends and you'll see them retweet users that might be interesting to you.

I always say it's a customized internet.

I don't really don't like to do anything internet related on my phone. As far as Twitter is concerned, I don't use it. I can't think of anyone I would want to follow and I don't think anyone would want to follow me.

I'm the exact opposite. 90% of my Internet usage is from my phone.

..........

Just stumbled over this thread; I love twitter. I follow a lot of people, many for different reasons, and it is always both entertaining and informative.
