After watching HC for the first time I'd have them at #5.

My line of thinking as well...biggest thing with them is inconsistency.

They really struggled against the Cooper pressure when I saw them earlier in the year. Teams improve though. Friday should give us a better idea where they are.

I would have to disagree with you Clyde on Drews low post play. The games I have seen he does a GREAT job of keeping the ball high and I really like his moves around the basket, one of the problems I have noticed at times are the angles of the entry passes from the wings to the post which in turn does make it hard at times for him to score, but to say he doesnt have a low post game.... I would have to disagree. Not only does he have good hands around the basket, his footwork continues to impress me. I do agree about his high post play also and I think that the Schulte kid would agree. He and Drew make a very good hi/lo combo. To me this has the making of a complete player. So I guess we will have to agree to disagree on his big man skills.

There is one part of his game that people keep forgetting to mention. Drew does not only move well around the basket, he also is a very unselfish player who does a very good job is distributing the ball to the open man.

The part that impressed me also this year was the job he does on defense!! Not many big men in the area are going to hold Campbell to single digits!! The game that I wittinessed against Holy Cross this season was one of the best jobs on defense guarding Campbell that I have seen to this point. Drew's defense seems to go unnoticed at times and when a kid is working this hard on both ends of the court.... well it should be noted. The Holy Cross game is not the only time Drew's defense has made an impact. This young man is developing a solid all around game and as only a soph his future is going to be very bright!!

The Breds are going to be a very good team for years to come and McDonald and cast will continue to work very hard to make sure success will continue to happen!!

As far as the type of kid Drew is, you are correct, Drew is not only a very good kid, from what I hear he is also a very good student athlete. If you put all of those tools together, he is going to be a very attractive prospect to the college coaches in the future, if not already. I wish the best of luck to this young man and the Breds.

I guess we watch a different HC v NCC game. Drew never got the chance to guard Campbell because every time down the floor he was doubled immediatly. No one in that game every stuck him one on one.

They handle it alot better with Markel in the game he has alot better handle and speed.Just gets sloppy sometimes but he is a freshman.

Your simply not giving McDonald enough credit. In that game Mcdonald is arguably the best big man on the floor as a Sophomore. Offensively he is much better than Schulte and I don't believe there is a big man on Holmes that is better all around then either of the two. McDoanld may not be the quickest, best defender but in all reality who does Holmes have that is going to exploit that match up and be that big of a difference maker on the block offensively? If they go all guards Holmes has no shot at stopping McDonald or Schulte on the block.

Obviously your bias to Holmes however you keep focusing on how Newcath has to match up with Holmes. What about Holmes having to match up with NewCath? Then your making assumptions based on the 2nd half of last years game. Mcdonald didn't play but the uptempo pressure bothered Newcath so that means this year it's going to be the same way? NewCath has a veteran guard in Bueter and it's not like Pangallo is some slouch.

IMO, the only advantage Holmes has is that they are deeper in the guard area. I would give the nod to Bolden over Pangallo due to Bolden's athletic ability but Pangallo is going to be one of the top PG's in the 9th for the next 2 years. Other than that match up NCC is simply better at every position considering the starting 5.

Finally, you continue to say that CCH has a better shot at beating Holmes because they play more of a similar style rather than NCC because there style isn't uptempo defensive pressure and run and go offense. If history serves me right I believe Newcath has had better luck against the Bulldogs the past couple years rather than the Colonels....but then again I may just be crazy for believing Holmes isn't the best team regardless...

See post #26:

"Outside of Newcath and Holy Cross, Englemon will likely be the best front court player......."

I guess you missed that? Last time I checked, that comment probably means both teams have a better front court player.

We get it. You are a huge McDonald fan. Don't be so sensitive when someone gives their opinion of a kid. Not one person has said a negative thing about Drew as a person or his game.

I'm not giving Newcath or McDonald enough credit? Have you not seen my rankings and the things I say about them in my articles? I have them #1 in my rankings, despite Holmes being 15-0, but yet I'm not giving them enough credit...right?

You are putting words in my mouth and picking and choosing what you want to point out, rather than stating the entire facts. I said in post #26 that Newcath created the most mis matches. When someone makes a comment like that, they are usually referring to EVERY team in the region having a tough time with that team. Again, not giving them credit though, right?

I never once said Covcath had a better shot at beating Holmes, but rather that they matched up better with Holmes style. Obviously I think Newcath is the better team, or I wouldn't put them ahead of Covcath.

Relax, take a deep breath, and just let the play on the court do your talking.

Go back and watch the 9th region All A championship from last year on nkysports and try telling me I don't give McDonald enough credit.

Agreed. Have been following Markel since he was a 6th grader.

Very quick and handles the ball well for his age. When he plays with confidence, he is tough to defend.

He just has to get better at sometimes just managing the game.

When the put him and Christian in the backcourt they handle the pressure alot better.

Noticed the same thing last night against Ryle.

First off, I said not giving Drew enough credit in regards to his low post game or ability to keep up with Holmes fast style of play. Your putting words in my mouth by saying I don't think you are giving Newcath enough credit. The difference of opinion was based on the post game/ability to play fast of McDonald. I am simply stating my opinion that McDonald is the second best post player behind Campbell in the 9th. Clyde responded stating that he believes McDonald is easy to stop in the post and doesn't understand why teams haven't stopped him all year. I asked him for some names in regards to what other post players are better in the 9th. His response was...just because I'm not giving you names of anyone doesn't negate that Drew is skilled in the post. As for you referring to Englemon does me nothing because I didn't write a post asking you specifically to name better post players than McDonald. Clyde posted that Drew was limited in the post so I simply asked him who he thought was better. You said you weren't sure that Drew could keep up with the quick style of play. At least that is what I am getting from your posts. Maybe you also think Drew is limited in the post?

I don't have a dog in the fight, but have seen the kid play several times and disagreed with Clyde's assessment of his post play. I disagree with your opinion that Drew wouldn't be able to keep up in the fast pace style of Holmes. It was my opinion that you keep reitirating how Newcath has to be able to play fast and match up with Holmes, however I believe Holmes has to also match up with NewCath because I believe NewCath has size that Holmes will have a tough time defending. Yes Holmes is better and deeper at guard play but I think they will have a really hard time stopping the McDonald/Schulte combo.

I am not being sensitive in the least bit. Just a gym rat stating my opinion of what I see on the court. But you appear to need some reassurance....right?

Referring to the bold, quite funny you mention that because if you read post #50....I'd rather not change each others minds. I think we can agree that we will let his game speak for itself. I'm glad you can agree!

I'm not sure why you keep harping on who I think is better. If I had made a relative measurement then it would be a fair question. I made an absolute measurement statement regarding his post game. Completely different. That's why I never answered your question.

You see the difference, correct?

I guess we watch a different HC v NCC game. Drew never got the chance to guard Campbell because every time down the floor he was doubled immediatly. No one in that game every stuck him one on one.

Game,

I also was at the NCC - HC game and can't figure out what you were watching. Campbell was doubled a lot ot the game, but that was mostly when McDonald was not in the game. His best defense was before Campbell received the ball. Drew's positioning was very good preventing the entry pass at all. Also HC's first two times down the court in the 2nd half Campbell took it to rim against McDonald and was turned away both times. Additionally only 3 of Cambell's 8 points were scored when McDonald was in the game. I'M JUST TRYING TO KEEP IT REAL!

. His best defense was before Campbell received the ball. Drew's positioning was very good preventing the entry pass at all.

If more kids realized that D starts BEFORE your man had the ball they'd be much better.

Clyde I am simply making a point to Walter the difference in the arguement between me and him and me and you. I am not harping on anything.
