Very unpredictable weather this morning/today with the ice etc. I have no problem with Kenton Co.'s decision.

Do these two games count as "forfeits" on the schedule of the teams involved? I assumed it just meant Paintsville and Johnson Central got a pass into the second round while Dixie and Scott would start in the loser's bracket. It seems unfortunate that all four teams would have games count against their overall total when they didn't even play.

Come on now lets relax. If a school thinks it would be safer to not travel today I applaud them. Nice to see they put overall safety before sports. Taylor Mill road has been bad all day. Several cars were off the road about 330 this afternoon. Better safe than sorry

The roads were plenty fine this morning. The 2 Cincinnati schools and BB made it down there just fine.

This is funny. I guess that Brossart had some secret road that they traveled to get to Lexington. Dixie and Scott didn't play until the afternoon to boot. In addition, I heard that the district would not allow parents to drive their child down for the tournament either. Other districts allow this and many use it as a means for transporting their teams.

The big question will be whether or not the school district will refund the money lost by their programs for lodging.

Im guessing they will not.

No problem with the districts' call, but the Brossart bus had to virtually drive by both Scott & Dixie on the way to Lexington, and much earlier (9:00-9:30) when the roads weren't as clear?

They can't tell the parents they can't drive the kids to an event. They can make the call that their team will not participate in the game.

Simple answer, they are to provide the transportation. In our society today, you do this because as soon as a parent takes their kid to a game, then they have a wreck, then you have the lawsuit.

 

It sounds silly but this is where we are today in public school systems. As far as the parents saying; "we will just go anyway" "They cant tell us what we can do". True, but they can fire the coach. And I have seen that happen, no more than 3 years ago.

 

They made a decision, I have no problem with the decision. It probably was a popular one, but they lived with it. But as you can see, when you read all these comments, why we have problems in the system.

Transportation to extra-curricular events is not a requirement of state law. Many schools are cutting costs by not taking busses. Fayette Co schools often show up to games in carpools.
