I agree with you about half way. There isn't a huge difference. Problem is that would be two years in a row they couldn't beat one team that made the playoffs with a whole bunch of chances. That is a problem even if you don't want it to be.

 

Well actually the way this season has turned out there would have only been 4 games against playoff teams, a lot less than last year which I admit they had a lot of chances last year. I think you even admit this years team is better than last, and honestly depending on who they play may determine if they get a playoff win this year. If they see the Ravens or Texans I like their chances in those games. Now the Patriots and Broncos would be tough first round matchups for them especially the Patriots with that no huddle offense. Which would hurt the rotation on the defensive line which is key for the defense.

What hilarious is that you know you have no way to respond back to the previous post, so you rather attack the title of a thread. Now that is pretty funny. Still waiting on the Giants to have a losing record this year? Don't think that will happen haha. Or what about the fact that its ok to be opptimistic, and its ok to believe a team has a chance once they are in the playoffs. You showed that when it came to Cooper this year. It does not matter how you get in, or what seed you are or if you have not won a playoff game in a long time or if ever. Once your in then anything can happen and that is all that matters. So no reason for people like you to get on here and say well you shouldn't get excited, when you were the same person who did the samething for a high school team and you believed in them. Which I read your post, you definitely didn't like when people tried to tell you not to be excited or to believe in them. So why do you want to do that to others now when you didn't like it yourself? Now in response to this. You keep going back to the last 30 years, when the past means nothing to these current players. Were these current players apart of all those bad teams, not at all. The FACT is which it seems like you have a hard time with facts like when it came to about the Giants. The fact is the Bengals are one of ONLY SEVEN teams in the WHOLE NFL to make the playoffs at least three times in the last 4 years. So shows they are doing something right when it comes to the consistency. Now its time for them to make that next step and become consistent at being able to beat good team which I agree with you on.

You're right about this. The thing that keeps people coming back to it though is there is no GM and Brown still runs things. It's not like he's out there going against what he thinks works. He has either gotten better at drafting or found someone he trusts their opinion on that is better at drafting. There should be no arguing that.

Definitely no arguing that. That is why I have not been as hard on Brown the last few years, because the Bengals actually have been making some good moves as of late and drafting better. As you said maybe he has gotten better, or he is taking more and better input from people. The Bengals have actually built this team up right by building through the draft and getting talented and good character guys. They are also getting good late round picks and undrafted players who help out. Which does go back to scouting, because they are evaluating players pretty good apparently lately.

 

What I don't get is people act like if their was a GM it would be even better. However we can look around the NFL and see how all these other GM's are getting fired because they can't even put together as good of a team as the Bengals now. So its not like hiring a GM automatically fixes thing, you have to actually hire a good GM. If you hire a bad one it also sets you back. So I know it was another long post, but I do agree with what you said on this.

I know Mike Brown did a horrible job for MANY AND MANY years once he took over and completely ruined what Paul Brown had did as owner. However maybe it was just luck, or maybe he is finally listening to other people. However they are finally starting to do things right the last few years, and we are seeing it on the field.
