When Dalton threw an Int the camera's went to Marvin on the sidelines clapping and then back to Andy Dalton smiling and laughing. Right now they have shown to be one of the top 6 teams in the AFC, but still have some areas to address if they want to get above being at the bottom of those top 6. By the way I will continue to give him money and go to games, because one as I said it wouldn't matter what we do it won't change things. Secondly I enjoy going to games with my family and friends and having a good time cheering on my team. Its not such a bad way to spend my Sundays, and I will gladly keep doing it.

You know the surest way to point out a delusional fan? They are the ones who try to tell others what teams they can and can't be a fan of.

 

That is you in a heartbeat. You telling me who I can and can't be a fan of, you telling others what a fan has to do and what they can't do.

Well you see that is the difference between me and you, I am a fan of the Bengals and I look at the team without orange colored glasses on. I take a realistic view of the team each and every year and that is where I set my expectations of how far I believe they will go is done. I also look at their needs and weaknesses and know what to expect out of the team. You on the other hand keep your orange colored glasses glued to your face so you could never see the reality of how good or how bad or how mediocre the team actually is. You are one that thinks every year they are only a player or two away from achieving greatness. That is fine if you enjoy being let down time and time again and more power to you for willing to be wrong more times than not. So if that is your cup of tea, then that is fine. Just do us all a favor and don't tell others what they can and can't think about the team they are a fan of.

As far as you going to the games, I never said you shouldn't. I had season tickets from 1977 until 2008. There were many reasons why i gave them up after 30+ years, the one at the top of the list was got tired of giving Mike Brown thousands of dollars every year with no sign of him improving the product on the field. But there were other reasons too such as I wanted to spend more time with my family on the weekends and the atmosphere at Bengals games anymore have gotten horrible, unless you enjoy drunks cursing and fights going on all around you throughout the entire game. If you ever wondered where I sat, anytime you saw the storm trooper at PBS he would be right next to the wife and me, so you actually saw me a ton at the games on TV. The atmosphere at the games anymore isn't even close to what it was like in the 70's, 80's or even the orrible 90's. Back then it was an event, anymore it's a drunk fest with horrible language that I wouldn't take any kid to under the age of 16.

Now in response to this. You keep going back to the last 30 years, when the past means nothing to these current players. Were these current players apart of all those bad teams, not at all. The FACT is which it seems like you have a hard time with facts like when it came to about the Giants. The fact is the Bengals are one of ONLY SEVEN teams in the WHOLE NFL to make the playoffs at least three times in the last 4 years. So shows they are doing something right when it comes to the consistency. Now its time for them to make that next step and become consistent at being able to beat good team which I agree with you on.

First of all you say you were more right than me about this current years team? Can you please tell me how you were more right? Can you tell me who has been more right about this team the last two years than basically anyone on this board? Yes there are some delusional fans who just say a team will be good and really have no reason for it. However I do the complete opposite and actually state true reasons why I think they will do well. I actually look at the players they have, how they look in certain situations, the schemes they use, the type of matchups against other teams, etc. Go back and look before the last two seasons what people thought this team would be like, and go back to what I thought this team would be like. Go back and look at the reasons why I listed for why I thought people were wrong and why they would be better than people thought. I mean I believe you started this year on here correct, or maybe you were on here earlier I don't know. However go back and look how many people thought they would suck, and go back and look at the reasons why I thought they would be better than people thought and see if most of those reasons ended up happening. Then go back and look before this season and see who was one of the few people who once again thought they would do well, while most people thought that they would finish below .500 again. Which I don't know if you posted in the preseason threads but I would doubt you would have thought they would have got to the playoffs again. Go back and look at the reasons why I thought they would make it.

 

Yes I admit I am an optimistic person, however for me to be optimistic I have to have reasons to think it. Which when I say I think they will do well, I don't just say that. I state the reasons why they would do well and even SSC can admit to this I have been pretty good on that. When the Bengals struggled earlier this year, I stated how the defense will be fine once the d-line gets healthy and that should help turn their season around. I also stated this year on how I liked how the scheduled played out before the season for why I thought they would do well. When most people looked at the teams and saw some big teams and QB on the schedule so just assumed the Bengals would not do well because they are the Bengals. So who is the one who uses bias in their opinions? I actually back up why I think they would do well, while most people use their bias of well their the Bengals for why they won't do well. Then when the Bengals do prove people wrong for the 2nd year in a row, people try to save face by having other excuses for why they did well.

However you are pretty good at making things up though, so thats not surprising. I once again very clearly stated many times that there was reason to be optimistic because once your in the playoffs you have a shot and that is all that matters. There were 20 other teams and fans this weekend who would have loved to have seen their team at least have a chance in the playoffs. Yet you want to claim once again that I said they would win. I even stated many times that no matter what happened, there was reason to be excited about the future. Those two teams didn'T beat the Bengals, quit playing the what if games. The Bengals aren't as good as you think they are. They only beat 1 team with a winning record....the redskins.

 

Sorry, but getting embarrassed in the 1st round of the playoffs again isn't anything to get excited about and start claiming the Bengals as a great team.

 

Here is the thread that started the fun last 9 months for me and Hellbird. I believe this was the first time he ever quoted me in a post on here, and his first thing was trying to tell me that I shouldn't be excited about the Bengals making the playoffs. That right there started our many disagreements, by trying to tell someone not to be excited about a team making the playoffs, there is no reason for that. I am a positive person and Hellbird wanted people to be on the negative side with him. This thread started it all.

When you were as terrible as the Bengals were, and then starting to become a consistent playoff team then that is reason to be excited, because that is better than the alternative. It also has allowed them to see they were building a good team and decided to keep the key players in place, and keep building through the draft. Now we are seeing how by doing that they are becoming a better team, and hopefully ready to make that next step and win the playoffs. So yeah now they are at a point where just making it would not be a good thing. They need to do something when there, because now they have the team to do that.

However as pointed out the Bengals have failed to win a playoff game during that time. Once your in the playoffs anything is possible though, and so hopefully this team takes that next step and makes a run. They have beaten better competition this year, they have shown they have built a good football team by them once again making the playoffs. There is no excuses they need to take that next step now. I agree with you this year. Last year was a little different because I felt like it was alright for Bengals fans to be excited to be in the playoffs because once you are in anything is possible. They were a young team and still was able to make it. Which is why I was excited about them making it last year, doesn't mean I was happy to see them lose though. However it showed me that they were building a good team, and was doing it with young players. That is why I was excited about them still. However now I am completely with you that there is nothing to be excited about if they go in the playoffs and lose right away again. They have built this team right, and have the pieces and experience to make a true run. Now its time to actually get it done!

 

Hopefully things this weekend could workout to where the Bengals get the 2 seed. I like their chances already, however obviously we all know their chances are 10 times better at home.
