Seriously though, he's been saying for a while that he thought Dieng would play against UK but that the medical staff was sandbagging. He said that on the radio day after he first said that Dieng probably wouldn't play until January 2nd, which he said right after he had proclaimed that Gorgui would get a tune-up against FIU and Western before the Kentucky game.

 

I think it was in the postgame of Western that he said something along the lines of the medical staff wanting to always put it in terms of worst case scenario so that they can beat those numbers. You know, like Scotty telling Kirk that he needs more time than he does. Although I don't think Pitino made the direct Trek reference.

I was always under the impression he would play from the time of the injury on, based on information gleaned from mainstream media.

Maybe. But if you pay enough attention, he gives credit when it is due. The guy is a professional fan for a living... far from a moron in my book.
