If I am a Republican, especially a Tea Party R, whose primary core political belief is no tax increase, I wait till after 1/1. Then when all these tax increases go in effect, you pass legislation that cuts the now in effect high taxes. That gets them around their tax pledge and even allows them to say they cut taxes even if the taxes are higher than what is in place now. Hopefully, that makes sense to anyone reading it.

I hate to say it but that makes a lot of sense.

 

The first noticeable pain will be January 15th paychecks for bi-monthly paid workers (for some it will be a week earlier for weekly paid). Withholding will adjust to the new tax rates AND the 2% SS cut will be gone. It will be noticeable to all.

 

Heck, they have not yet patched AMT for 2012. I think they pulled that in 2010 and did not fix it until February after it expired. The improvement was to make it effective for 2 years.

 

So they probably have about a month, maybe a month and a half to fix this at the most. Then there maybe pitchforks and torches at the Capitol and WH steps. Of course military related companies are already prepping for mass layoffs by January. They will get hit hard.

From what I've read he has angered the Progressives in the party by making cuts to Social Security.

So the plans must be good if the progressives are mad at Obama and the conservatives are mad at Boehner. Sounds like they might be getting close.
