Obama just keeps saying tax those over $250K and that will hit most small business owners.

I'm pretty sure that the POTUS changed the $250k to $400k and maybe $1M.

OK, had not heard that. That may be the best 'deal' available if either of those are real. Expecially the $1M.

 

At that level the impact not be an overly broad 'hit' to economy. But reallity is that the revenue generated would probably be less than projected will not fix anything in the macro picture.

I heard Rush today trying to explain it. He said you can explain it to an assistant in a one lawyer law office this way. If the lawyers taxes next year go up by $50,000, he'll have to get rid of you. That makes sense. Now, under the President's proposal, that lawyers income, after the expenses of running his office, including that assistant, office space law books, computers and anything else a smart accountant can think of and after any other personal deductions he might have, would have to be just under $1.5 million to raise his taxes by $50,000. I think Rush explained it just right.

Yes it does. If he and Boehner can continue to compromise we just might get thru this without too much damage.

So the POTUS and Ds originally requested $425B in stimulus money (extended UE, jobs extenders, tax extenders). In an attempt at compromise the new proposal has $175B (got rid of the payroll tax holiday among others).

 

No word yet from Spkr Boehner.
