I thought SK would have to come out of it at halftime because Bolden was shredding them. They did a good job of cutting off the drives with help in the 2nd half, they took him out of his rhythm for a while and Holmes was rattled, mostly Chames and Coston. Chames didn't like a non-call and then went down and committed a stupid foul afterwards. Booher pulled him immediately and he sat for a few minutes. Holmes did not adjust until early in the 4th when Palmer took over the point and Englemon got involved.

 

Palmer is the leader of this team. In every game I've seen, if the opposing team makes a run, it is always Quan that makes a play or gets an assist.

 

I thought the biggest difference was Holmes couldn't set up their press becausee they weren't scoring. (credit to SK defense) When Holmes was able to set up their press they got turnovers or forced SK in to bad, quick shots. Also burned them a few times as well though as it left Sampson open just enough to hit a jumper.

 

Both of these teams will be very good come seasons' end. This is a great match up to get each team better as the opposition presents match up problems in certain areas.

Holmes is going to be a team that plays in spurts/runs.

 

They will allow you to rattle off 6 or 8 straight but as soon as you do and Booher calls a timeout, Holmes comes out ready to play. Both times Jason called a timeout tonight, Holmes came out and went on a big run. Not sure what he said to the team when they got down 6, but something ignited them as they came out with much more intensity.

The 2nd TO when they went down 6 was really settling. They were not in rhythm (due to SK as you said) and got a couple of turnovers and stops then it was just making FT's. Both teams played really hard and challenged defensively. Shooting % were good for both. I thought SK stayed close with their offensive rebounding, also. This was a great test for the 'dogs.

Bolden may be toughest one-on-one matchup in NKY. If Hatton has any edge it's his physical strength going to the rim.

I agree that Hatton is stronger and he also has more range on his jumper. Nobody can beat you off the dribble as well as Bolden. He is unbelievably smooth.

Was telling Swanson's parents the same thing last night before the game. If he wants to get to the rim, there's no stopping him. And his pull up jumper is on par with Hatton. Very consistent and doesnt take bad shots.

Totally agree. I said it before and I'll say it again, Beetle is the best player up here.

You may be right about Ncc not wanting to play Holmes in regional. But if I was Holmes I would worry about beating CovCath and Holy Cross first so they don't have to face either team first rd of the District. IMO
