I got a Christmas present from President Obama last night...

No, my health insurance company/provider decided to get out of the health insurance business. Sorry if it was unclear. I am, until 12/31/13, in a well-known group health and life insurance trust.

That's odd. Let's assume they now have higher costs. Why just pack it in? Pass the cost onto the consumer like every other business does. You can then blame it on the POTUS.

Odd.

I'm not so sure the insurance racket isn't the reason our health care system is in the mess it is today. In that light, maybe things work if they all just go away.

I don't know the history of the industry but you may very well be right.

A to the MEN. That's the problem and has been all along. If there had been insurance reform we wouldn't be in this shape now. I said it a decade ago and when it was discussed on the hill, no one wanted to upset the zillion dollar lobbies.

I would agree that the insurance industry, as well as litigators, have greatly contributed to this problem. However, I've seen no evidence that the federal government is in any way efficient at dealing with anything.

The Govt would also have to get out of the insurance business for this to happen.

May I add the pharmaceutical lobby to this as well?

We have been informed that our costs will roughly double. Luckily, my premiums are very inexpensive, so it's not a huge additional burden, but I am none too happy about it. At least at this rate everyone will see President Obama for the liar that he is though.

True. It's already doing Medicare and Medicaid, and we all know how efficient those are.

Yes, they may have higher costs. I am assuming, per their letter, they don't want to deal with this now. They've already previously passed the cost along to me.

Still seems strange.

I just got my renewal notice from my work insurance. Deductible for my single employee plan is $9,000 and my monthly premium is at $38.15 a week. That doesn't include dental (an additional $30.38 per month) or vision (an additional $7.37 per month).

That's a hefty deductible but really cheap premium. I have no deductible or out of pocket as long as I stay in network. However my premium is $269 bi-weekly for a family plan. It is going up to $280 after the first of the year.

Suckerssssssssssssssss....................

Just wait. He has another coming on your first paycheck in 2013.
