December 18, 201213 yr I received a letter from my health insurance provider yesterday. Due to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, they have decided to not offer major medical coverage(health insurance) anymore. I have had this policy with this company for over 20 years. My policy will expire at midnight on December 3, 2013. My health insurance wasn't the greatest, but it was consistent, affordable and they didn't hassle us much. I was happy with what we had. They are also offering to assist me in getting new health insurance coverage before the policy expires. I can't bring myself to be mad at them because I can't blame them for wanting to get out of the health insurance business. How many more companies have, or will, follow? And does anyone think the government can do better at managing this? Thanks alot, POTUS,:irked: shamrock fan

BHO promised us that if we liked our coverage we could keep it :puke: I'm afraid we're just seeing the tip of the proverbial iceberg.
December 18, 201213 yr I'm confused. You said your "healthcare provider." Did you mean your employer decided not to offer it?
December 18, 201213 yr I'm confused. You said your "healthcare provider." Did you mean your employer decided not to offer it? If I may answer for him it says his health insurance provider. The way I read it he purchased insurance on his own, was satisfied with it but because of Obamacare the company that he was with has opted to stop selling health insurance so despite what BHO promised he is being forced to change.

I very well may be in the same boat, my health insurance provider sent me a letter with my bill that said they are reviewing their plans and whether or not it is in their best interest to continue providing health care insurance.

So his employer doesn't offer healthcare insurance?
December 18, 201213 yr So his employer doesn't offer healthcare insurance? Perhaps, or like in my case, the plan is less expensive on your own, rather than in the company plan.
December 19, 201213 yr I won't offer a political statement or a conclusion, just a fact. I was just informed the deductible for my CDHP is going to double...it is already like having no insurance.
December 19, 201213 yr I won't offer a political statement or a conclusion, just a fact. I was just informed the deductible for my CDHP is going to double...it is already like having no insurance. I just got my renewal notice from my work insurance. Deductible for my single employee plan is $9,000 and my monthly premium is at $38.15 a week. That doesn't include dental (an additional $30.38 per month) or vision (an additional $7.37 per month).
December 19, 201213 yr Author I'm confused. You said your "healthcare provider." Did you mean your employer decided not to offer it? No, my health insurance company/provider decided to get out of the health insurance business. Sorry if it was unclear. I am, until 12/31/13, in a well-known group health and life insurance trust.
December 19, 201213 yr Author I can't tell from the original post if sf is employed or not. Employed. How could a person pay for insurance if not?
December 19, 201213 yr I'm not so sure the insurance racket isn't the reason our health care system is in the mess it is today. In that light, maybe things work if they all just go away.
