You set guidelines that you know nobody can argue... congrats? You aren't a fan of the Neal Brown hire, but everyone... EVERYONE else is, including many recruits. Like Stoops said, his offense puts defenses in tough situations and is tough to prepare for. I'm sure there will have to be adjustments to it, being that the SEC plays much more defense than the Big 12, but coaches are paid to be able to make such adjustments.

Better question, who do you think UK should have hired as OC?

But if UK is wanting to get to Bowl games, are those not guidelines/facts that should be taken into consideration? That's like saying, look, you chug a case of beer in a day and take off driving down a country road, but the chances are extremely likely that you will have a wreck; but don't worry about that.

If UK's offense isnt in a constant race against time and whole hearted establishes a solid running game, then Ill be the biggest fan there is. There is nobody in the country that I enjoyed watching this year more than La Tech on offense, but it was also just as painful to watch them on defense.

According to early reports, it was Stoops who contacted UK. He reportedly came in with a plan and laid it out for the UK brass as to what he wanted to do to build the UK program into an SEC contender.

I would have loved to have been in that room, but realistically I would just like to see an outline of that plan.

Not being critical at all but...

Any coach who has anything about him looks at jobs and thinks that HE is the man to change the job/culture of the program. At any level all of them have a plan if they are any good. The problem is the support and patience to execute the plan from others outside the coach.

Plans are just that, plans. If the administration doesn't have the guts or want to to support said plan.....that plan is just a wish and dream.

What happened to the other coach fron Flordia St? Coley I believe, the ace recuiter.

Since you are asking, though. Somebody with the Alabama, LSU, Stanford type offense. Pep Hamilton is the offensive coordinator at Stanford.

A Saban, Harbaugh, Miles, etc. type protege is what I think would work better in the SEC. It's nothing personal

All philosophies and systems work, some work better in different conferences. Take for example the Air Raid stuff, why dont you see it in the Big 10? I can give you one reason, that stuff doesnt look near as pretty in Wisconsin and Happy Valley when it's around 25 and snowing in November. That's one reason. Which is exactly why you see so much of it in the Big 12 and PAC 10, 12 (whatever it is, the Pac 12 probably a great example, though); totally different climate.

UK has had a new coach for all of two weeks?

And judging by your posts, it is comical for us to believe that you want UK to do as well as WKU or Louisville. C'mon.. you spend all of your time on here arguing with and trying to prove UK fans wrong.

You and a couple others I've mostly argued as to why I think Petrino was a great hire for WKU. I've argued with several as to why that is, either on here or other sites, some have been UK fans, some have been Louisville fans and some are just the holier than thou types who don't necessarily have a preference for either, but dang sure like to stand on their moral pedestal when it's the situation is fitting.

Last I heard, he was in the running for the FIU job. Not sure if they have named anybody or not? I haven't really paid much attention to that one, but I know his name was in the mix.

I know everybody is jacked up about the style of offense that UK will be running; The Air Raid returns, but it's going to boil down to two things and two things only.

1) Defense

2) How well will they run the ball?

Some will disagree, and that is totally fine, but before Max Smith went out, Kentucky's offense really wasn't all that bad this year with the amount of youth that they had (the same can be said defensively, as well, in terms of youth that is. I never liked whats his name DC from the word 'go'.) If you remember the Louisville game correctly, and I know most of you do, UK was right there. Offense isn't what got UK beat (well, inopportune turnovers did inside UL's 20 or round a bouts), but their defense did.

Even the WKU game, UK put up 31 points (24 in regulation), but Alabama just put up 35 on them, so take that for what it's worth.

I love the Air Raid and Tony Franklin stuff if people run the ball, and Lord knows there are those out there that do, Louisiana Tech (granted, they were also in the WAC...a lot of NFL teams going to that conference to draft defensive guys, let me tell you) this year being one of them, but on the flip side of that, their defense is/was horrid (119th to be exact). I just don't see the two ever coming together (Pass first, uptempo offense with a solid defense). Can anybody name me a team in the SEC team going bowling that fits all 4 of the criteria below?

1) No Huddle/Up Tempo- Go Fast

2) Pass First

3) Bottom half in rushing across the country

4) Plays great defense

If anybody out there can find an SEC team that fits in all four of those categories, please let me know. Because those 4 categories above are what you are likely to see (or at least, that's what's being sold).

Hopefully the days of going up to the line of scrimmage and looking over EVERY TIME before snapping the ball will be over. It should be exciting.

I actually think Petrino makes plenty of sense for WKU, just didn't want him at UK.

We are really getting into weather? Well if so, the Air Raid should work great in warm weather. Urban Meyer's system works at Florida and Ohio State.

How many SEC teams spread you out? Maybe more should.

Have you watched the TFS, Air Raid stuff? Their trademark is going up to the line of scrimmage in a formation, letting the defense get lined up, then the entire offense stands back up to get the call from the offense.

I'm not saying it as a negative. Heck, I like that fact of it. Line up....see what you are going to give defensively, then call a play where the defense "isn't". Go to where they aren't. I'm just saying if you didnt like the looking over the defense every play like they did under Joker, then I don't know if the new stuff will be any more appealing.

I was watching the Army and Navy game, and both of them were doing ^^^, also, especially Navy. Most option teams check at the line also, but it's not as pretty as 5 wide. They actually snap the ball under center; heaven forbid that.

Sure, weather. You honestly don't think 60-90 (like it is more the majority of the season in the Big 12 and SEC) isn't better to throw the pill around and easier to catch than when it's in the 20-40's? C'mon now.... If it doesn't matter, then why doesn't anybody do it? Nortwestern doesn't count, either. They are spread to the max and uptempo as well (38th I think in plays ran per game), but those jokers run the crap out of it. Top 20 rushing team.

They were spread in formation, but they weren't/aren't Air Raid. As a matter of fact, Urban's whole system is based around Wing T, Single Wing and even Wishbone principles. He just couldn't call it that. "Spread" for some reason just makes it sound more innovative, I get it, milk that for all it's worth if it gets the fans behined you. Often times Florida lined up in 3 and 4 back sets (Tebow being the 3rd or 4th back of course. Ohio State was in the bottom half of teams in terms of offensive Snaps per game, nowhere near the likes of Tech, West Virginia, Oklahoma, OK State, etc.

To go along with the above, I heard Gus Malzahn speak in person last year about his time at Auburn, he was telling a group of coaches about how they had everybody at Auburn fooled when they had Cam Newton. Of course they were in the Gun, and the fan base thought they were running some wild offense, but in all reality, it was the Wing T from the shotgun. He mentioned how he couldn't actually say "We run the Wing T" because at first sign of trouble, they'd have ran his butt out of town tied to a pine log. It obviously got a huge laugh from the crowd; a lot of truth to that, though.

Also with Florida and Auburn, they were amongst the best teams in the country when it came to rushing yards. Same goes with Oregon. They are the epitome of 'Go Fast', but they are also amongst the Top 5 in rushing across the country as well.

The spread has nothing to do with. Under center and in the old Oklahoma wishbone or 4/5 wide like Oregon or Northwestern. Run the rock and run it a lot.

I can totally understand and respect that. We obviously don't agree, but I understand your arguments.

I have heard that Coley wasn't out of the picture but that's hearsay, just have to wait and see. Curious to see who Stoops goes after for RC/Asst. HC if Coley doesn't come. I seen on twitter that a 4* Wide Receiver and Oklahoma State commitment might be considering UK and Vince Marrow to Kentucky is a done deal. Marrow will be TE Coach and is a heck of a recruiter in Ohio. With him and Stoops recruiting Ohio that's a 1-2 punch

Good call. I've never understood why UK has never recruited Ohio more than they have, especially since there is such a large fan base in the Cincy/Dayton areas. Maybe they have and just haven't had any succes?

It definitely hurt with Tubbs being hired at Cincy, though. Meyer can only get so many from Ohio. Michigan dips into the the Columbus and North area as well. UK needs to own the Cincy area.
