Funny you mentioned about the stripes, as one of the assistance of Moeller (CovCath plays them this Saturday night at CovCath) sat behind us and asked us, "Do the refs always call the game so close/tight over here"?

 

I told him go to the Ville or to Lex and you will see blood before a foul is called but in the Ninth Region, you look at someone side ways and it's a foul! So yes I told him the stripes call game close and they did tonight with a total of 38 fouls called!

 

Now I am not at all complaining about the stripes as I too think they did a good job but to an outsider, especially one from Ohio who is used to a Big Ten style of rough play, it's a bit of a eye opener! :lol:

Yes they were calling it tight, but not as tight as previous games this season, just my opinion.

The Bluegrass Association boys called 52 fouls tonight in the Scott-Harrison County game. Scott shot 42 free-throws. In his post-game interview, first year head coach Larry Kendall had nothing at all nice to say about the officiating in that one.

 

My problem is twofold. The darned points of emphasis fouls that have no bearing on the play, but get called just because they are instructed to do so - detracts from the game. Secondly, the second half of a game is called differently than the first leading to inconsistency. What was a foul early-on is acceptable play late.

 

I'll be glad when we get to Christmas and we get back to playing basketball instead of having to deal with all on the "nickle/dime" fouls. Coach Kendalls words.

Another big game for Ruthsatz tonight. Can't wait to see him in person.

 

Question: Does the lack of production from the other players worry the CCH faithful at all? Obviously a lot of guys got in the box tonight but you can't expect Nick R. to put up 20+ every night and Covcath come away with a W.

 

Ruthsatz has to score plus-20 points a night. He can't help it. His huge motor, which outplays everyone else in the gym, will not allow him to back down or ease up. He is full speed ahead 100% of the time. If you've seen him play you know what I mean. When he gets an inch of daylight the ball goes up. To him it is a high pecentage shot, if he can get it off. He has the quickest release shot, perhaps, that I've ever seen, and fortunately for him and the Colonels, they usually go in.

If the guy was from the GCL their idea of a foul is quite different. If you've ever watched a GCL game it's hand-on-hand combat.

Moeller is indeed in the GCL and your quite correct, completely different game over there, compared to the 9th.

The GCL and Lex/Louisville definitely refs don't call as tight of a game. I wish there was more of a middle ground in the 9th region. I much rather see thee boys play an aggressive, physical style of play rather than afraid to foul.

I couldnt agree more, but I have been to some 8th region games....some of those have looked like bare knuckly brawls, there has to be a happy medium somewhere.

I can tell you that fans do not like it called closely....

 

UNLESS their team has the ball.
