Covington Catholic 71 St. Henry 52

Featured Replies

CovCath defeats St. Henry by 19 points at St. Henry before a large crowd of St. Henry and CovCath students and if you think the kids don't attend their HS games, you should have been there as both student bodies were loud and fed off of each other making for a fun night in an otherwise a rather one sided game.

CovCath improves their record to 3-0 and next play Pendleton County, who I am quite sure the Colonels remember well from last years game but this year at CovCath with the JV tip off coming at 6pm.

I am rather certain the Colonels Crazies will be out in record numbers for this, the Colonels first home game of the season.

Ruthsatz was on fire.

Another big game for Ruthsatz tonight. Can't wait to see him in person.

Question: Does the lack of production from the other players worry the CCH faithful at all? Obviously a lot of guys got in the box tonight but you can't expect Nick R. to put up 20+ every night and Covcath come away with a W.

If Ruthsats doesn't walk in those doors last season this is an entirely different team. He puts them on his shoulders every game it seems.

I'll post some more pictures (probably tomorrow).

The Shuh boy played well for cch. He can hit from the outside or the inside. As time goes on, he will be tough(er).

Kunstek played well for St.Henry. Crusaders have spells where they give the ball away too much (bad passes/unforced turnovers).

If it was a consistent 28 out of 50 or 55 I'd be somewhat concerned. CCH put up 71. Add in that Tobler has been back for about 10 days.

He is so much more than the 28 pts Clyde. I know Tobler is good and not all there yet but what about Frederick, Pauly, etc. Will they rely on Schu to be the 2nd leading scorer most nights.

Ruthsatz is a stud. Plain and simple. I was at the game tonight and he had several plays that made the price of admission worth every dollar. He plays at a different level. Fun to watch :)

You don't need to tell me about his level of importance. My point is he's not the only scorer. The rest of the team scored 44 points without their #2 scorer being 100%.

Schuh? He will be a strong 3rd option. Kid can play on both ends.

IMO, I'm not so sure Tobler is the clear cut #2 option. Schuh can score in multiple ways where as Tobler is limited to the post. I think you will see Schuh become the second scoring option regardless if Tobler is playing.

Label them how you wish.

I see 3 strong options.

I agree. I think it should be somewhat worrisome bc this is what plagued them in the districts last year. CCH was able to squeak by HC in the first round bc Pauley stepped up. Ruthsatz didn't shoot well in the districts and they couldn't get by Holmes.

I realize he is by far CCH's best player but this CCH team has a much different makeup than most of the successful CCH teams throughout the last decade. It's much different seeing the point guard or one guy for that matter average around 20+ and take so many shots. I can't recall a PG in the last decade or so that did and there were some very good ones at CCH. Usually the CCH teams are very balanced.

IMO, CCH team reminds me of Dixie. Both hatton and Ruthsatz are going to get their points however, I think both teams will struggle against teams like NCC, Cooper, and Holmes. These teams are much more balanced and not one dimensional. I'm not taking anything away from CCH bc they have some nice young players, especially a rising star in Schuh but I think the team is going to live and die by Ruthsatz from what I have seen so far.

Thanks for the replies. I was simply asking because I'm not used to seeing one guy dominate the box score like Ruthsatz is. It is also in part because I was expecting to see more production from the supporting cast. (Frederick, Pauly, Tobler). Tobler situation is understandable but from seeing Covcath last year I think they were best when he was a pass first, score second guy. I know that won't be popular thought, but just voicing my opinion. Has nothing to do with who I am a "fan" of.

I've had the opportunity to talk to a lot of the coaches and players in the 9th region and that alone takes a lot of bias away.

See "Dixie Heights High School, Brandon Hatton"

He has 43% of their points.
