December 5, 201213 yr Author Jim Duquette @Jim_Duquette Ludwick deal not expected to be finalized tonite. Still likely that Cinci is the team - but not done
December 5, 201213 yr That's a done deal with the Red Sox. Can't believe they paid him that much. I'm really hoping he fails his physical. Way too much money. I know the team is trying to add good clubhouse/character guys and Victorino is certainly that but I just don't think he's worth that.
December 5, 201213 yr Author Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS Very available: shin-soo choo as well as cadrubal. #indians looking for long-term assets I think the Reds need to look hard at Choo.

December 5, 201213 yr Author Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal Keppinger three-year deal with #WhiteSox for about $12M. Good for him, I've always liked Kepp. That's about double what he's made in his entire career.
December 5, 201213 yr Sounds like the Reds may be close to adding Jack Hannahan...Guess he could fill the Miguel Cairo role...:idunno:
December 5, 201213 yr Author Mike Puma @NYPost_Mets Mets liked Ryan Ludwick, but with him returning to Cincy it's "back to the drawing board," according to Mets official. Looks like it's close to official.
December 5, 201213 yr MLB @MLB Source confirms to @GregJohnsMLB that @Mariners and OF Jason Bay agree to 1-year deal.

What the heck are the Red Sox doing?
December 5, 201213 yr No "good clubhouse/character guy" is worth that kind of money. What the heck are the Red Sox doing? At this point I have no idea. I liked the Gomes, Ross and Napoli signings. They're all solid contributors and great clubhouse guys. I would have been okay with the Victorino signing--at half of what they paid for him or even if they wanted to overpay him for one year.
December 5, 201213 yr One thing the Victorino signing would do: It would allow the Red Sox to trade Ellsbury. Homer for Jacoby?
December 5, 201213 yr Author I would give them Arroyo for Jacoby Ellsbury. I want to keep Homer! Arroyo has deferred money in his contract that has to be paid upfront if traded. Zero chance he is ever traded in a Reds uniform.
December 6, 201213 yr I would give them Arroyo for Jacoby Ellsbury. I want to keep Homer! I can understand that but you aren't going to get Ellsbury for spare parts. With Chapman going to the rotation they can deal a starter. Ellsbury would give them the leadoff hitter that they have needed for awhile. It would be costly but I would think it would make the Reds the favorite in the NL this season.
