"There are too many blowouts in the 1st round"

I thought you were talking about when Cooper was first formed and why they played up when they played in 6A, they did that because of geographical reasons. That is what I thought you were talking about.

Highlands should be happy Cooper isn't in 4A this year, that way Highlands has a shot at another title :thumb:

Actually any public school is never going to be the beneficiary of a system that includes private and independent schools that can bring in athletes from outside their district.

Im curious, does anyone know of all the state championship games, how many schools are public and how many are independent and private in the title games?

How many private schools are in 5A? Zero.

I don't buy the independent school thing. Dayton, Ludlow, Newport and Bellevue are independent too.

6 Classes are too many. It allows for too much overlap. I would bet if you looked at the 2A - 5A with enrollment numbers for this year, there would be no defined boundary lines. The KHSAA used 3 year old numbers when they realigned back in 2010. The numbers that are classifying the 2013/2014 seasons are from 2007/2008. If the KHSAA is not going to use current numbers, classification is meaningless outside of 1A and 6A.

You are not completely accurate when saying all 5A schools are public, Kenton county schools for instance are all open enrollment, which means Scott for instance has open enrollment throughout the entire county which means they don't have district lines they have to draw from etc.

You saying independent and private schools doesn't matter couldn't be further from the truth. Now last i checked, Dayton, Ludlow, nor Bellvue was playing in the finals, I asked out of the 12 teams playing for a title, how many we're public vs independent or private.

By the way, I thought Bowling Green was an independent school? Am I wrong?

With that said, I agree, they should use current enrollment numbers when they realign etc. I have no issue at all with that.

So schools with open enrollment are not Public? I am completely correct when I say no 5A schools are private. I also said I do not buy the "independent districts have all these advantages" argument. My argument is based upon Bellevue, Dayton and Ludlow being independent. Independent districts are public schools. Private schools are a different story. Bowling Green is independent and Cooper is a a County school. Both are public schools.

Nevermind, if you don't know the difference then I can't help you. I asked a simple question, how many schools in the finals are public and how many are private/independent. If you don't want to answer then don't, it was a simple question.

To help you out, here is the difference between public and independent schools

They are practically speaking the same thing because both private and independent schools are non-public schools. In other words they are

schools which are funded by their own resources, not by tax dollars.

Independent schools can also set their own regulations when it comes to enrollment etc. that is the main difference.

You are right. You can't help me because you do not know what you are talking about. Independent schools are public schools. They are funded by property taxes. People in Ft.Thomas, Ft. Mitchell, Bellevue, Dayton, Ludlow, Covington, etc. pay property taxes that are used to fund the schools. People in Boone and Kenton County pay property taxes that are used to fund the public schools in Kenton and Boone County. People in Ft. Mitchell do not pay a school tax to Kenton County. The school tax they pay goes to Beechwood Independent. Also, they all receive money from the state of KY.

Private schools are not funded by tax payer dollars. Independent and Private schools are not the same.

The answer to your question is BG, Highlands, Cooper, Mayfield, Caldwell County, Belfry, PRP, Collins, Fairview, and Central are all public schools in the finals. NCC and Trinity are Private schools in the finals. Of those Belfry, BG, Highlands, Mayfield and (Fairview, I think) are Independent Public schools. The others are County Public Schools. The finals have 10 public schools and 2 private schools.

Hellbird, you are losing all credibility when you say things as silly as "independent schools are non-public schools". Highlands is an independent school and DEFINITELY a public school.

Why are you twisting your answer?

The answer to the question is 7 independent/private and 5 public. Now that wasn't so hard was it? It was a simple question and I was just curious is all, don't make it out to be anything that it wasn't.

I was asking a legit question I was curious about. Nothing more, don't read too much into it.

There is a difference, I showed you the difference.

Obviously you don't live in Fort Thomas or you would realize how wrong you are. There are so many things I want to say to address your ignorant statements but I will say that you are just that, ignorant. Please educate yourself before you start talking about things you obviously don't have knowledge of.

Sweet, stay classy!

I was asking a simple question, no need to get your cake eater panties in a bunch now.

Hellbird, independent schools are funded by tax dollars just like any other public school. They use the same enrollment process as any other public school in that anyone within their geographic boundary goes to that school tuition free, because their tax dollars fund the school. Do us a favor and spell out very plainly the point you see that no one else does.

I was simply asking a question, seems that the independent school folks are the ones that read into the question too much. All I asked was how many public schools were in the finals and how many independent/private schools were in the finals. I didn't know which we're independent and not. Was a simple question.

Your question is flawed. The answer is accurate. You cannot lump independent and private schools. Independent schools are public.

Also, county schools can set their own regulations too. See Kenton County open enrollment vs. Boone County not open enrollment.

HB, what is frustrating other posters is that you are just posting factually inaccurate stuff and then acting all innocent when people call you out. Earlier you said that private and independent schools' funding comes from their own sources, not tax dollars - your words, not mine. That is true for private schools but NOT for independent schools. Whether you like it or not, independent schools are public schools - funded by tax payers. This is just a fact - and it seems to have eluded you. If you think independent public schools should be treated like privates, that is your opinion... one I have not heard that often, but your opinion.

I understand that.

I know independent schools are basically City run schools and public are basically county run. That was never the question. All the HHS fans getting angry over a simple question is funny to me.

Here is a legitimate question for HHS fans in here, I truly do not know the answer so I am just going to ask. Does every Football player on the team live inside the Ft Thomas city boundaries? I'm just curious. Don't read into the question too much, I know how sensitive some HHS fans can be, just a simple question. If so, I want to have the water pumped into my house because they turn out some stud athletes. And that isn't a knock, I'm truly giving them kudos if the city puts out that many great athletes.
