I use it after a particularly snarky comment that I've replied to something stupid someone said. Not sure why, but it always works. :lol: AND, I think it may be the tone it's used in...it can be something different with different inflections.

I feel like that would make me question the other things they say when they don't use that preface. :lol:

I go ahead and give full disclosure, "I'll be honest with you, because normally I lie."

Another pet peeve is when you say "bye" to someone, either on the phone or in person, they answer back with a "mmmbye"?

 

What is that? This drives me crazy! I asked someone I knew once after they did this, "how do you spell bye?" IT DOESN'T START WITH AN M!

And then the classic break up line, "it's not that I don't like you, it's just that..."

I've tried to cut back on this speaking habit. I have a buddy who always says something like "I wouldn't want you to not be honest" every time I say it. I'm trying to break the habit.
