In the first game - SCHS took the opening kickoff back to the house. 7-0.

 

Then had a pick six on SK's first play. 14-0, barely a minute in.

 

Then a SK punt, and SCHS had two long 30+ yard runs and another score. 20-0.

 

Then a safety. 22-0 with Five minutes to go in the first quarter.

The quick start by SCHS was the knockout blow. The score may change, and I expect it to be closer, but the outcome stays the same.

I think SK will score in the 20's but I do not think they can keep SC out of the 30s. However, SC only put up 42 on Ryle and SK's defense is better. I expect a much closer game than the last time they met when SC took the opening KO to the house and the landslide began. Best of luck to the Neers!

Jolmstead and/or UK#1fan, other than being homers(which is fine, nothing wrong with rooting for your school), why do you think the outcome will be different? What gives you the confidence that SK can make up the 50 pt margin from the first game? I just don't see it, so help me and 99% of the other posters understand why the outcome will be different.

Scott is a big play team. Not only on offense, but on special teams as well. They are very athletic, and quite frankly a lot more talented than SK on both sides of the ball. SK is however, a lot bigger on offense and will be quite capable of running on this team. For SK to be competitive, they will have to reduce the number of possessions by controlling the ball on offense. They will need to convert 4th downs. They will have to give themselves extra possessions by recovering on sides kicks. They will have to avoid turnovers.

 

I have seen enough big plays from Scott's special teams, in person and on tape to convince me not to kick to them. I kick on side kicks, I run fake punts and if I do punt, I do it from a drop kick formation.

 

Scott's offense is going to score. I do everything I can to keep it off the field.

 

Scott County has been blowing their competition off the field. They have not played any close games. If SK can keep the game close late in the game, Scott will feel the pressure of being the heavy favorite. Also, there may be opportunity if Scott looks past SK to Trinity.

Whoa brother! I was just having some fun with UK#1fan as a lot of us have done over the years on this site. See my second post indicating that I hope SK wins. Sorry you took my words so seriously. I will ALWAYS root for teams from my area even if I know it's an uphill struggle.

I always appreciate that within our district , we respect each other and don't harbor any grudges. We are all county school districts that have similar dynamics and challenges.

SC was pretty heavily favored vs. Boone last year and the game ended 16-14. I would not be surprised by a close game although in the 20s or 30s instead of the teens on the scoreboard. Go Neers!
