Bourbon County 49 Garrard County 8

Featured Replies

Very impressive win by Bourbon. Legit.

Bourbon is a very talented, very dangerous team.

Didn't expect this large of a margin. :scared: Congrats to the Colonels! :thumb:

Everything that could go wrong went wrong tonight. Garrard would have to play a perfect game to beat Bourbon and would need some Bourbon mistakes. It was the other way around as Garrard coughed it up several times and Bourbon was able to score at will. Unlike the first meeting where Bourbon was stone-walled by the Golden Lions interior defense, the Colonels ran more to the outside and also passed more, exposing the young secondary which was unable to contain.

Garrard had a solid season but was just overmatched by Bourbon County. Bourbon and Coach Hodge have a really special club that seems to be playing very well. I don't know how they will match up with Breathitt or Belfry down the line, but they have to like their chances.

I was pulling for you guys, gchs_uk9. Nothing against Bourbon but I was hoping to see Garrard Co advance. I really enjoyed our trip down there last year and I have a ton of respect for Coach Scenters and what he is doing there.

I hate to look ahead, but IF Belfry is fortunate enough to get past Breathitt this Friday, I would have loved to host the Lions in the semifinals and it would have been good to see you again.

Best of luck to all the Lions players and staff, maybe we will meet again next season.

There's been a rebirth of Bourbon County football. I recently read that the Colonels had lost something like 34 straight games; and not all that long ago. Congrats to the Colonels on advancing.

Thanks, 2C. While it is disappointing that Garrard didn't make it this year, Bourbon is a terrific team and will represent the district well. The coach at Bourbon is a Garrard graduate and he and I have been friends for a long time. His kids are entertaining to watch, not unlike Garrard was last year, and if Bourbon and Belfry meet it will be a great game. I suspect the key would be Belfry slowing down the speed of Bourbon, just as it was slowing the speed of Garrard in 2011. But both teams have to get there first!

What is Coach Hodge's coaching resume'? I am not familiar with him or where he has coached.

I thought Johnny Poynter was still coaching at Bourbon Co. What prompted a coaching change after a successful 2011? Where is Coach Poynter now?

Coach Hodge came from Boyle County and brought a few others with him.
