So whats the deal here? GRC cant play Brossart but they get to play the team that got beat by 50 in their first 2 games? Who will Brossart play?

BB will play Fayette Co from Georgia. I don't know why the switch was made, but personally if I was a BB fan I would welcome the change. Beating GRC in a blowout game will not help them in the post season. Looking at Fayette's team roster they have some height and should give BB a much better game.

I don't know that Brossart would blow out GRC, but I agree. Face some different teams that you won't see.

 

Unfortunately though, Brossart and GRC haven't played since the '05 season if I'm not mistaken, so I was somewhat looking forward to seeing the matchup.

Agree with you 3311 regarding a potential easy BB win, and couldn't believe that GRC withdrew when I heard it. I was another who was looking forward to seeing where BB stood vs. a perennial 10th region power. May not be Preston Knowles & Co., but its still GRC. Disappointing & curious, but I'm sure both teams will show up & play whoever's warming up at the other end?

I dont know how these tournaments are run. Can you withdraw from one game and ask to be put in another one?

 

What happened to the northern KY teams that withdrew from their first round games? Didnt they have to forfeit those games or did they get to make them up. Is it different in games after the first round?

 

Even though I dont travel and wouldnt get to see the game a GRC Brossart game would have been interesting.

Not real sure of why the switch took place. We were simply informed of the change and told that GRC had dropped out, which obviously isn't the case.

 

While we would have preferred to have played GRC, we will play whoever they assign to us, which in this case are the Fayette County, Georgia Tigers. We and Coach Humphries are friends and we do not want to burn any bridges with the GRC folks by making an issue of it. If it works out better for them to play the team from Florida, then so be it.

 

Our concern is playing five games in five days and being the only team in the tournament to be asked to do so. AGAIN, being good citizens of the tournament we will do as instructed, even though this could result in our having to drop regular season games down the road should we go deep into the "A" State Tournament - IF we should be so fortunate as to get there. The games we would have to drop would be away games, which would cost us home dates next season.

Personally I would have preferred to play BB too. I too do not know why the switch was made, we will play our hearts out whoever we play.

 

Mustang wouldn't you all maybe had to play 5 games anyway if the switch hadn't been made? It does put you all in a difficult situation if games had to be dropped. But on the other side, advancing in these tourneys should out weigh the cons of this.

Obviously not.

 

The scenario presented in the last paragraph would be disturbing to me. I do expect the 'stangs to be a force in this year's All-A.

I'd be shocked if they don't win it the way they are playing.

I'd love to make a Clark County/Montgomery County weekend trip next season, BUT there are limited spots on our schedule. Some of the games presently on our schedule are the first year of two year home/home contracts.

 

With us playing in the NKAC Division II conference we are committed to 8 games there. District seeding games are 4 more.

 

Hoping to make it to the championship game of the 10th "A" accounts for at least 3 games. A deep run in the "A" State could account for 2/3/4 more games, and a tournament over the holidays is 3 more (or more).

 

So as you see, not much wiggle room on the Brossart schedule.

Knowing our coaching staff, I didn't believe it either. Some assume that GRC asked for the change, not sure that is true either.

Somebody in the GRC Somerset Christian thread said that GRC said they didn't want to play Brossart because they are a 10th region team. I hope that isnt true.
