I heard HHS lost by 9 or 10..

I wasn't able to attend but I heard the same. HHS won the first half. No Ayers, Barnes or Swanson for SK in this one. Of course no football players for HHS.

I watched the 2nd half of the SK / HHS game and Simon dominated the whole half.

Heard Walton beat Ludlow by 20ish.

Heard Maniacci from Cooper is in a boot.

Highlands went with these lineups today. Seniors- Gronotte 6'3, Witte 6'2, Hinkel 5'10, Sophomores - Hall 5'7 and Harris 6'3. Witte had a nice first half scoring on some strong takes to the hole and played pretty good defense. His post moves were very strong and he finished pretty well. Gronotte played well in the 1st half as well. Birds won the first half 41-32, SK ended the half with a nice 3 pt play to cut the deficit to 9. Birds man-man all over the floor Bulldog press worked very well. Early in the 1st half frosh Jared Daugherty went down with an ankle injury. The Birds 2nd five were Junior- Brendan Buten, Sophomores- Josh Salter, Reilly Ohara, Kenny Ball and Frosh Mitch Cain.

SK came out with more intensity in the 2nd half and the Birds switched to zone. The Pioneers jumped out by 10 and never looked back in the final stanza. Witte wasnt really a factor in the 2nd half as he was dealing with some nagging back issues. I think he still finished with 16 points and close to double figures in rebounds. Buten made some very nice passes and attacked very well. He is a crafty point guard who can definitely handle the rock. SK has nice size and depth, the Robinson kid I believe was their leader in the 2nd half. Sampson also had a nice 2nd half, he seemed to finally warm up and get his shot going. SK was playing without Barnes, Ayers and Swanson who were all on crutches. SK won the 2nd half 39-23 convincingly. Final score if you add em up was 71-64 Pioneers.

Not sure of the scores of the other games but I know Walton Verona beat Ludlow pretty good. Cooper beat Beechwood in the early game and Zach McNeil had a very nice game. Maniacci was on crutches and in an air cast from an ankle injury in Friday's practice. They are not sure what the status is yet regarding that injury.

In the final game of the day the Breds of NCC jumped out strong with a 16-4 lead over Roger Bacon but then hit a dry spell. I dont believe they scored another point for like 12 minutes. RB started playing very physical and NCC couldnt get the ball to fall on several attempts. Bacon made a nice 18-2 I believe with solid halfcourt defense and strong moves to the basket. NCC started Devoto, Schulte, McDnald, Beuter and Pangallo. RB had some nice athletes and played very hard. McDonald played well around the basket, his size really helps him on the block. The first half ended RB 28-NCC 26 if I recall. I stayed until 10 minutes left in the game and NCC had a 4-6 point lead most of the 2nd half. If someone can update the final 10 minutes that would be nice.

Tale of two halves basically, Highlands was up by as much as 12 in the 1st half and SK was up pretty big in 2nd. Pioneers missing 3 key players and Birds missing 4 starters due to football playoffs.

Devoto and Pangallo got the start over Seibert for NCC?

I was wondering the same thing. Devoto played pretty solid and Siebert couldnt really get going in the time I watched. Its a scrimmage, I am sure Seibert will be in the starting lineup next week.

Does Walton-Verona have a chance against Cooper on Tuesday? Based on what you saw today?

With Maniacci out and the football players getting ready for the State Finals I would say they have a shot at a win. WV lacks size and without Shelton and Maniacci down low they should be more competitive.

I thought WV looked good today. However Cooper's man to man will be a lot tougher to score against than Ludlow's zone.

Thanks for the details, Q!

I know early in the week Seibert was not practicing, just shooting off to the side, with a back issue. Maybe this is why?:idunno:

Thanks. That makes sense that he may have been injured. Kid is a stud.
